Great way to learn
This book is both an introduction into ancient Egyptian culture and a fun maze book that is great to do with your child. It features a narrative story by a boy looking to help his father, a builder working on the pharoh's hidden chamber, find his way out before the tomb is closed forever. Wonderful illustrations and a fun puzzle increase the enjoyment of this book. The companion book about castles is also a great pick. My 8 year old loves Egyptian culture, as do I. We really had a nice time working on this book together.

More than just mazes
There are lots of fun maze books around, and this one is as fun as any, but what sets it apart are the details about pyramid design and construction. A lot of fascinating historical info from National Geographic is woven into the stories and puzzles, and the book still very engaging, not at all dry. I bought it for a niece, but ended up reading all the pages myself before I gave it to her. Good for kids of almost any age.

Educational (info about ancient Egyptian culture) and uniquely laid-out, fun mazes. I recommend this maze book for older kids:ages 8 - 12.

Boring for a maze expert!
My 9 year-old-son is a whiz at mazes. He even draws/creates his own if he can't find any hard enough. I wish these books had a "Look Inside" preview. If they did, I would not have bought them! I bought the whole set (3). What a waste of money, my son finished all three books in about 3 minutes! The reviews were so excellent, I figured they must be great! The concept of the book is good; a story and a maze to reinforce the comprehension. However, the mazes are SO EASY. I think these books are better for 4-5 year old's. Mom or Dad can read the story and the child can do the maze according to what the story says. If you are looking for some tough mazes, this is NOT the book for you. If you are looking for a short historical story followed by an easy puzzle to solve, this book is perfect.

kept my 11-yr old relative attention!
This occupied the quizzical mind of my 11-year old step grandson, instead of a video game! That is really saying something these days. Now, once he solved the puzzles portion, the game of it was over; but, he learned some architectural history along the way.

I wish there were more books like this
I love these books, they cause it to seem like you are actually walking in the spaces, more engaging that other books.

It's a hit!
Our smart, 6-yr-old granddaughter loves this book! National Geographic never fails to provide quality. The mazes are a challenge but solvable and fun.

good layout and integration of the mazes and sidebar historical ...
Bought all three of these NG Maze Adventures and searched online to see if Graham White had done any more. Very high educational quality typical of NG, good layout and integration of the mazes and sidebar historical content. I keep these in the back seat of my car for my two grandsons, 6 and 8, to keep them occupied while I am driving. I wish Mr. White would continue these, perhaps for Mayan and Aztec history.
