Your Secret Self: Illuminating the Mysteries of the Twelfth House

With 4 planets in here and it being my primary house, I have really enjoyed this deep dive into the 12th house, I always come back to this book, very insightful and accurate on many instances. The 12th house is a tough mysterious place but at least we're not alone in secrecy!

This book brought me to begin focusing on dream work more than any other theme mentioned surrounding the 12th house, and will say that is the focus of the majority of this read, especially the latter half of the book. I'm glad I picked it up regardless. I recall some parts, specifically near the end of the book, being monotonous. I was hoping the author would go more into depth about 12th house themes other than dreams, but at the same time, in reading all the examples and analogies I learned to dissect my own dreams from a psychological perspective more easily and effectively. I tend to skim and not fully analyze the birth charts authors place in their books to dissect simply because everyone's housing system preference is different, and it pulls my attention away from the words themselves, but that has to do with my personal style of learning. I recommend for anyone with 12th house planets and anyone with a 12th house (haha).

I have initially published a three-star harsh review, declaring that the writer seems to be self-absorbed and there are too many examples of physical intimacy in the book. I received the comment written by the author herself. I have to say that I cannot believe that the author herself commented on my review. I am in total disbelief since the author is a well-know and famous astrologer whom I admire. I have gladly raised the stars to five after reading the comment.In my defence I have to say that I personally have no twelfth house planets (I have some first house planets including Pluto and Mars that is forming a tight conjunction with my Ascendant- these placements along with my Sun conjunct Uranus configuration in Sagittarius in third house make me a harsh reviewer during certain times). The twelfth house terrain is completely unchartered for me and is incredibly difficult for me to comprehend.I got this book as both of my children who are twin boys were born recently and both of them have some twelfth house planets. I heard that the traditional term for this house was the house of troubles and that it had something to do with childhood experiences. I decided that I had to read the book on this subject so that I could better understand my children and so that I could help them grown into healthy, happy adults. In the end, I am very glad that I bought the book and read it. There is so much useful information on the twelfth house. This book is a must-read for anyone who has one or some twelfth house planets and who is on a road of self discovery.The section on dream interpretation is invaluable. I have successfully interpreted so many of mine and others’ dreams after reading it. I even made some predictions that were based upon my dreams. Those I know constantly turn to me for help in interpreting their dreams. I ultimately owe this popularity that I now have among those who know me to the author of the book.

This book is intense for some people. For me, I’ve highlighted and cried more in the past two weeks than my whole life. I have saturn Neptune and Uranus in the 12th house of Capricorn. The 12th house is my chart ruler. Neptune and Saturn sit on my ascendant as a Capricorn rising. Every word Tracy has written about these planets in the 12 house and Capricorn has been true. So much shame and guilt coming from a poor white trash family with addicts. I wish Tracy was still practicing as a therapist because I feel like she could really help me.

I started reading a borrowed copy of the 1989 edition of Your Secret Self, and quickly realized that I needed my own to study now and refer to later. I don't even remember how I was lead to this book, but its usefulness became clear when I reviewed my astrological chart and realized 1) I have Pluto and Uranus in my 12th House and 2) I have 14 aspects to my 12th house planets and rulers, including 5 Squares and 9 Sextiles/Trines.So far, my two biggest "aha's" have to do with goodness vs. wholeness and Pluto being in and ruling my 12th house. When I reflected on "being good". I immediately started distancing myself from thoughts, desires, and choices that didn't fit my learned idea of goodness - like those destructive and demonic Plutonian feelings. The idea of "being whole" opened up this wide space for me to just see what's there and to observe without judging. I'm excited to see how my increasing self-awareness transforms my life, and thank the author for her role in that process.NOTE: After the placing my order, I received a lovely message directly from the author, Tracy Marks. She let me know that I would be receiving her personal autographed copy of the revised and expanded version of this book.

OMG MY MOUTH DROPPED! Look I personally NEVER post reviews, but I have bought a lot of astrology books (some I wasted my money on..) BUT THIS hell no! Honestly if she charged $40 for this book I would buy it with how in-depth it is. If you are any person interested in learning astrology like me, buy it.

I have a twelfth house stellium, Moon, Mars(Aquarius), Venus and Saturn all in Pisces located in the twelfth house as well as a pisces ascedent. It wasn't until I learned about astrology and am researching the 12th house that I started to get some sort of direction in my life. This book is extremely helpful, though I may not be able to afford a psychologist the information that this books offers will be a handy tool. I really do appreciate the time and effort put into this, and the fact that someone out there finally understands makes a world of a difference.

This book is magic. I have my Sun, Moon, Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter all in the 12th house. I found myself underlining most of the pages because so much of it resonates. I just started reading but this book has already made an impact on how I view myself. I am so grateful I found this. I am learning so much about astrology in the process as well.

Just finished this book and overall I was disappointed. Whenever I read a part that I thought was going to be positive it slipped back into negativity. Too much focused on 'the past' and not enough on the present. Promotes seeking therapy as an answer to everything, so don't waste your money buying this book, just go and pay a therapist if you wish.

It is important to know something about astrology and one own chart for this book to be of maximum benefit but I can still fully recommend it. It is very informative reading for anyone with twelfth house planets and placements. Widens your scope of understanding of others and ones self with and a real revelation and help .A definite "must read book" . This book could lead the reader on to self-advancement and peace of mind .
