Feels a bit flimsy, but honestly, I really like it.
First impression was that this thing was flimsy junk, but to be completely fair, the point of this thing is to be lightweight and portable, so I wont fault it too much. It was also dirt cheap, so there's that. Why do I like this flimsy thing, you may ask? The pins that hold the sheet music down. They're awesome. They look like bug antennae, but they've got tons of tension to hold the sheet music to the stand. For me, I put the right antenna at an angle so I could just poke the corner of the page under it, and the left antenna had enough tension all on its own to very snugly hold the book to the stand without any slippage. It is made to be portable, but as I said, its a bit flimsy. Thin metal, but ultra light weight. For anyone who just plans on using this at home, buy it, it's worth every penny. if you're actually needing to transport this a lot and break it down/set it up over and over, I have a feeling it may not hold up to repeated use, and the metal is so thin that it seems like it could very easily get bent.... however, its so cheap and does such a great job that if it does break somewhere down the road, I'll definitely buy another one. Id give it 5 stars if it didnt feel like it was made from glorified tin foil and not really sturdy enough to be used as a "portable" item, however the bang for the buck is so good and it does such a good job for home use that I'm still giving it 4 stars without hesitation. If it didn't have those awesome hold downs for the sheet music, I would probably have given this a much lower rating, so... if the manufacturer is reading this... if you change anything on this stand... DON'T change that part, it's the saving grace and it's why I'll be buying another once this thing inevitably breaks in a few years. In fact, I might buy one sooner just in case they discontinue the product or decide to raise the price.

which already make it much better than the other music stand she was using
I ordered this as a birthday gift for my teenager who plays several instruments in orchestra. She has been using a very cheap music stand for the past few years that I found at Goodwill, so I decided it was time for an upgrade! If you've ever used a camera tripod, this stand unfolds in a similar fashion. There are adjustment points for both height and angle, which already make it much better than the other music stand she was using. The base of the stand feels very secure and I like that the legs unfold to be very wide (wider than shown in the photo) so it cannot easily be tipped over. The part that holds the music is really pretty. There are some spring loaded wires at the bottom to hold the music securely. I deducted one star because this part of the stand doesn't feel very sturdy. I feel as though I could easily bend it in my hands if I wanted to. I don't believe it will hold more than some sheet music or a lightweight book without bending. However, that is basically all that my daughter ever uses anyway, so I don't forsee it being a problem.Love the carry bag. The whole thing is very small and lightweight. Great for portability and also great for storing in a drawer it when it's not in use.

Just what I was looking for
I play a little classical guitar. When I was younger and more "correct" I sat in a straight-back chair and put my music on a tall music stand. recently I've been feeling more casual and cutting on the couch or in a big cozy arm chair to play. But then I can't see the music on the tall music stand. I'm happy to have found this stand, it has a low position, right now it is 25" to the bottom of the sheet music, so I can be comfortable in the armchair (in the beautiful sunlight with a cup of coffee) and see the music perfectly. There are of course higher positions of you need them. Other good features: the part that holds the music tilts back or forward then locks in place; stand is sturdy, I leave it set up near the center of the room and nothing has knocked it over so far; the tray that hold sheet music is fairly deep (1"), I have a 55 page book in it right now; there are two clips or arms that hold the music in place, right now they are holding the 55 page book just fine. Easy to set up and take down, comes with a nice black carrying or storage bag. One little odd thing, when stand is set up and music is clipped in place, the music is tilted just so slightly downhill to the right which is a tiny bit annoying - maybe I can readjust and correct that? Overal, extremely happy, just what I was looking for.

I love this light
I love this light, portable music stand. It's much lighter than the other music stands I own, and this music stand is --with the exception of the plastic knobs and plastic feet--made of metal. (The other music stands I own, the part that holds the music sheet, is made of plastic, and it's heavier.) This music stand is sturdy and folds up quickly (once you figure how to fold it) and neatly. And it comes in it's own little canvas bag for easy storing. It's now my go-to music stand. When you first get the music stand, make sure you pay special attention on how it's folded as you're unfolding it. In this way you can easily fold it back again. When I first got the stand, I just unfolded it without paying attention on how it was folded in the first place - I just wanted to unfold it as quickly as possible to try it out. When it came back to folding it back up again, I had to use my powers of geometrical logic and intuition. For a while there it was getting hairy, I getting afraid I wouldn't be able to fold music stand correctly to get it back in its bag. And I'd have to search on youtube if there was someone who happened to video tape how to fold the music stand back up again. But through trial and error, I was able to fold it back up again to fit the bag. It was like solving a 3-D puzzle. :)
