The Art of Super Mario Odyssey

The book is big and beautiful, from a Nintendo lover you don’t wanna miss books like these. Colorful and high quality, and the book slides out a protective case awesome book would buy again for any Nintendo game love all the concept art and promotional art it’s an A+

Stunning book with great photos. Was not protected in transit and the protective cover with art was smashed and a book cover corner bent. This is not an issue for us, as it is a gift for a child, but if you are a collector you will want to purchase this elsewhere.

The book is nice. The Mario sleeve it comes in was sliced through (no it didn’t happen when I opened it- the box was huge and there were mailing bubbles on the top of the book.)

I cannot reccommend this book if you easily fall into the trap of lamenting what could have been. There is so much gorgeous art in this book, a lot of it however is stuff that did not make it into the final game or was heavily altered for the final game, and much of what was altered or lost is so much better than what we eventually ended up getting. Odyssey is a fantastic game but crazy to think of how much more amazing it could have been. The biggest mistake of this game was going with a realistic look for New Donk City and it's residents. They had originally planned to have Mario styled humans like in the old gameboy Mario sports games, and a city that looks more like something out of Mario Kart.... this is just one of many things that could have been so much better in this book, and while I love the book, I almost wish I didn't know what we lost.The book is huge by the way. Larger than the Mario Encyclopedia or even Zelda: Art and Artifacts. It comes with a pretty sturdy dust cover. Make sure you have room for this behemoth of a book.

I’ve always wanted Nintendo to start publishing art books for the beautiful worlds of the Super Mario series, and this one hits the ground running. Not only does it feel hefty, sturdy, and well-made (with a nice protective plastic slipcover), but inside, you’ll find 3D and 2D renders from promotional material, storyboards of the cinematics, tons of concept art and design imagery, unique screenshots of in-game features (usually showing you something you probably haven’t noticed before), and lots of tidbits about the logic behind different design decisions. They could probably make two more games just off the unused creativity within these pages.I just got the book today and I’ve read it front to back twice; it’s long enough that it’ll capture your kids’ imaginations for a good while with the eye-catching artwork, and there’s a healthy amount of brain food for aspiring artists and designers to glean some wisdom from (both within the text and especially the visuals).Great for families, artists, video game aficionados, Mario fans new and old, and for the coffee table book collection.Highly recommend.

If I could give this 10 stars I would. I see some other people received this book damaged; I did not. So I’m sure ordering this book from here is still a bit of a gamble, but if you do order it and receive it undamaged it’s amazing! I’ve ordered other “Art of” books, and none of them even come close to how nice this one is. It’s super heavy and has a protective sleeve (which is what Mario is actually on). It’s a Christmas gift for my brother, and it’s way nicer than I thought it was going to be. Very well made. Extremely happy with this purchase!

As an artist, collecting and holding art books feels like a real privilege. I don't buy many myself since I find most of my resources online, but I can't pass up getting art books for shows and games I'm just a diehard for! Super Mario Odyssey is no exception and looking through this was just as lively of an experience as it was playing the game! The package came in great condition and so did the book. A truly wonderful addition to my collection that puts a smile on my face daily. Ya-hoo!!

Super Mario Odyssey is one of the best game from the series, alongside with Galaxy 2 imo.Been waiting for this artbook for awhile and I don't regrets it..or for some part.Once I received it, the package only protection was a small row of bubble wrap...for the front of the book, no protection on sides. Because of this, the "hardbook cover sleeve that came with the book" is now cracked on the top-right corner and it seems it extended itself to the back as well, even worse the top-right corner of the book is now bent because of the expose crack. I heard from other reviews on Amazon about how books order aren't properly taken care of/packaged, I was hoping I was hoping to be not one of those people.If you can stand the future damage when ordering this, go for it but if you're a huge collector and want things to be perfect I suggest not and go for a possible third-party seller or to a store for this issue not to happen. You still can be lucky or you can have this problem too. If this still an problem to you, you can return it and see whether or not the next one if going to be no issue.Other than that I still enjoy the art direction/unseen changes of what became for this game. I'm still happy with my purchase

-1 star because the plastic shell came cracked. Normally it wouldn't be a big deal, but for this book the plastic shell is where the Mario and Cappy design is printed, so you're supposed to keep the book in the sleeve.

A fantastic book with lots of pages and lots of beautiful concept art. I would love to see a new Mario game in the same graphical style found in those drawings, makes you dream!Well worth the price, a great addition to anyone's collection.

Content and illustrations were great. Birthday present to my son who loved this edition
