Could not get into Conner
I typically love Sierra Cartright and I have read all of her books, but I just could not get into Conner. Maybe he was just too dominant for me and Lara too submissive. There was no give and take. I connected with Conner's instruction that Lara could use "yellow" to slow down or to "reconnect emotionally", but I didn't feel Conner was emotionally connected during scenes. I loved Lara's character but I didn't like how she capitulated to Conner about everything. She would have a valid argument in her head but give in anyway. I kept reminding myself that she wanted all of it. There was also so much sex crammed into the story in such a short time, I thought she was spanked and whipped more than any person could be without having physical issues. I also wish Ms. Cartwright would have thrown in one scene that was just a tender scene.I think it is hard with BDSM stories because there are so many levels of dominance and if I as the reader can't place myself in the relationship because of the level of dominance or submission, then I fight the story. It would be the same if I found a male lead to be to cocky or conceited... I just couldn't fall for Conner.

Wonderful...
I loved this story. I loved Lara Bertrand and her sexual awakening. She's a strong young woman; elegant and sophisticated. She's the perfect combination of boldness and innocence. Anyway, she'd been going through life unfulfilled, wanting more and wondering if her lackluster sexual experience was typical. And then she meets Connor Donovan who challenges her and offers her the chance to experience things she might otherwise never know anything about. But the story is about more than just her sexual awakening. It's about her trying to save her fathers business and in order to do so, she enters into a business arrangement. A marriage of convenience. It's about Connor coming to the realization of what he holds in his hands with the beautiful Lara. And that reality leaves him stunned. For the first time in his life, he's confused and not in control.I adored Connor Donovan. He's commanding and complex and controlling. He's a delightful combination of an aggressive testosterone menace, and a tender, passionate naughty boy. I loved how serious he believes the institution of marriage to be. He takes marriage vows seriously and I loved how he believes the importance of being faithful and wanting a faithful wife. Yet he's a Dom. He doesn't stray from Lara...his "sub".If you do not like reading about the BDSM lifestyle, you probably should steer clear of this story. It's fast paced and to the point with very little adult language. It was uncomfortable to read at times...that is, an intelligent woman willing to be bound and flogged in order to attain what she's seeking. Ms. Cartwright conveyed each point brilliantly.

FANTASTIC EROTIC BDSM NOVEL BY SIERRA CARTWRIGHT!
The first truly authentic BDSM novels I read (after the abysmal 50 Shades of Grey series which was so unrealistic as to be pathetic) were the Shadowlands and Doms of Dark Haven series by Cherise Sinclair. A couple of the Doms of Dark Haven series books were co-written by Sierra Cartwright. This was the first solo book written by Sierra Cartwright that I've read and to say I was blown away by this book would be an understatement! It was amazing! The story held my interest from beginning to end. The characters were realistic and engaging. The BDSM details of the storyline were entirely realistic and accurate, something that I have found is rare when it comes to BDSM-themed romance novels. All too often novels that purport to be "BDSM" romances have little to no relationship to true BDSM culture, are not realistic and have no basis in reality. In my opinion, Sierra Cartwright, Cherise Sinclair and Lexi Blake are the top three authors when it comes to BDSM novels as they relate to authenticity, realism and accuracy. Kudos to Sierra Cartwright on a well-written, captivating, well=researched and authentic BDSM-based novel. I would highly recommend this series of books!

Good read
For the most part an enjoyable read. personally I got a bit frustrated with the way Lara's father behaved and how she wouldn't stand up to him but then took the action she did. I felt she'd have been a better person if she'd been open with him (trying not to include spoilers here). I felt Connor was a bit if a drama queen at times and I didn't warm to him as much as I wanted to. That said the story was well structured, well written and it developed well. I felt both Lara and Connor were better people in the second book, and Lara had really developed into a strong character from the snippet we saw of her in book 3.

A Good well written story
I downloaded this book to actually find out why it was a best selling book. I have to say I enjoyed the story for the most part. The sex scenes were very well done and I did not feel like I was reading an erotica story. It was more of a power battle, and I did enjoy the pushing of boundaries, even though it was strictly not allowed. I thought it was a bit too long and got a little bored, two thirds the way through, but battled to the end. All in all a good story and well written.

Loved it!
I have enjoyed all the Sierra Cartwright books I have read and I loved this book too. I can't wait for the next in the series. I'm hooked. It is linked to the Bond series in that some characters appear in both series. Connor is the perfect hero and Lara is perfect for him but it seems they have a long and complicated journey ahead of them. I look forward to finding out how the plot unravels.
