As with any lead free solder this requires attention to proper heating. The idea is to set your iron for enough heat to rapidly melt the solder but not in excess. Anyone who has experience with soldering will get great results and those who do not will just need to practice a bit. The idea is to hit the points to solder fast and then dissipate heat to avoid damage to parts. I mention this because unleaded solder can take more heat and also transfer more heat to your parts but these are simple issues to control and well worth it for safety. Unleaded solder is the only way to go for your family's safety but you still will need to concern yourself with ventilation and other regular factors of soldering. Pick a location that is separate from household goods and well ventilated. This helps insure no family exposure to electronic parts and chemicals.
