The Very Impatient Caterpillar (A Very Impatient Caterpillar Book)

I used this book along with our Painted Lady Butterfly life cycle study. This book is hilarious and the children in my classroom loved it! A real winner for the preschool and elementary age child! A must have for the classroom!

My daughter and I take turns picking out her bedtime books and it's deflating when she picks something that is painfully dull to read (I'm talking to you Pete the Cat). I read it to her anyway and put my all into the voices because I love her, but I won't lie... it kills me a little more each time I have to read them. But when she picks a book I love, like this book, I do a little happy dance (in my mind). Educational and hilarious. Not to mention colorful, which only adds to the joy. Get. This. Book. (and the sequels)

Cute, fun book to help the Littles understand patience.

A must read for kids! Such a cute book with a great storyline and adorable illustrations! It teaches kids about the importance of being patient, and we all know how impatient kids (and even some adults!) can be :) The author uses humor to portray the story of an impatient caterpillar - very cute jokes that kids absolutely love. I enjoyed it, too! Highly recommend!!!

This book teaches about a caterpillar become a butterfly through a funny character. Great for 2-6/7 year olds. We read the lines as a reader theater. We discussed punctuation and how that changes the tone of the book. It has science vocabulary words. For the younger children it has large words with short sentence and colorful pictures. We liked it so much we bought it for gifts this year.

One of my favorite books to read to my preschoolers.

Even caterpillars need to learn patience! This book is adorable, and it lets children think about what it may be like to live in a chrysalis for two weeks trying to become a butterfly. Even though it is highly fictionalized, there is enough science about the process of metamorphosis to make this book fit easily into a classroom discussion of butterflies. And at the same time, children get a better understanding of what it means to be patient. Best of all, it’s a funny, entertaining book!
