Deluxe Ice Latern Globe Kit

I picked out this kit because I thought my kids would like to do this with me. We had fun making them. I wish the kit came with more bases though to sit the balloons on as they are freezing. It only comes with 3 bases. I wanted to make a line of these up our driveway and three was just not going to do it.We did make the three balloons though. ANd the kids had fun. We had two small and one large. You get 6 balloons which you just fill up as much or as little as you want. You can pick up the same type of balloons in any store to "refill" your kit.We put food coloring in some of ours which does make a colored ball IF you freeze it solid. If you don't freeze it completely solid then it doesn't look like it has any color.I didn't use the candles provided since I didn't want to mess around with making a vent hole for the smoke. (which it gives you directions as to how to do that) I used LED light tealights that I already had here. They are battery operated. No smoke, no heat, and you can still see them shine. The candles would have been a lot brighter though I am sure.It took longer to freeze though than the directions stated. It was in the teens and 20's for high temps when we did these and leaving it out there for the length of time the directions suggested left us with a really thin outer layer of ice. I left them out about twice as long and we had a good thick layer of ice and still a hole for the candle to sit up inside it. For the colored ones to freeze solid took quite a bit longer.We plan to make them again sometime.

Had a really difficult time stretching the end of the balloon over the water spout. I used a small spout the size of a hose but because I couldn't pull the entire neck of the balloon up and the resistance of the balloon would cause the neck to fill up and create a balloon in the neck.

My sister got rid of all her Christmas lights and once it gets cold she will make some Ice Globe Lanterns and put battery powered tea lights in them.. so I thought, that is a great idea... no more getting on the ladder in the snow.Everyone loves the look and they last all winter in Minne'snowta'.

The kit combines all the essentials one needs to produce a stunning hassle-free result. The key seems to be both the amazing strength of the balloons (much better than a typical punchball so you get a round globe vs a blob) along with the system created that integrates a special base. The neighbors (and their kids!) lit up seeing the result - I gave finished globes as gifts... plus, the kit is a great gift.

I like the plastic molds much better. It was hard to tell when they were done..The balloons split on some and totally froze like cannonballs on others.

Arrived in a timely manner. Exactly as described. It may take some practice but can't wait to try out this winter here in ND. Price was excellent and pleased with the purchase.

The kit had everything I needed to make beautiful ice globes to line my sidewalk for Christmas Eve. So easy and fun!

This kit is not even worth one star ,,, just go out and buy regular 12 inch balloons and save a ton of $$$$
