PREMIER SEEDS DIRECT - Runner Bean - Scarlet Emperor - 70 GRAM ~ Approx 70 Finest Seeds

Grown from seed in trays in our conservatory and once established placed three plants to a pot in a small greenhouse on our patio to bring them on. Found they germinated pretty quickly although some seed decided Australia was a better option, but only a few. Planted out in a long four foot trough filled with fresh growbag compost and fed regularly with liquid tomato fertiliser. Kept them well watered and never let them dry out in the very hot weather. Flowers set well on cooler nights, but not so good during the recent hot weather. Don't spray to set the flowers. Started to harvest at the beginning of July with lots of further good quality beans following on. The beans have been very tender picked before they are allowed to go stringy and woody. Will be definitively be buying another pack next year.

Great seeds. Mine are growing really well. Looking forward to 0ne of my favourite vegetables. Recommend.

A very good germination rate. Makes large plants and very productive.

Delivered on time. Day after delivery I followed instructions to sow but so far, 3 weeks later, only 3 of the 12 sown have germinated. I'll sow another batch and see if things change.

So to the beans! I have planted them in their little pots and some at the base of my new canes and fingers crossed I shall be filling my freezer with lots of non-pestiside beans for the winter and in salads over all the next few months. Yum! I used to have an old labrador who loved string beans and would root about in the veggie plot and come dashing back to the house with a long string of beans trailing behind her! and lay there in the kitchen munching her way through them. If she were still with us she would vouch that these beans are very tasty cooked or raw.
