Excellent good-quality product
This worked great on my recent trip to NY/NJ where temps varied from 20s to low 40s. Whether I used it simply as a gaitor/scarf or twisted it into a different item, it was comfortable and useful. The instructions for using this item as a cap or balaclava were useful and this worked well in those configurations. The extra length allows this to work really well as a full balaclava. This gaitor is a single, light layer of wool, so when using it, you'll want multiple layers to really keep warm. In the cap configuration, it is a thin cap that works in cold, but not bitter, windy cold. What worked best for bitter cold was for me to use this as a balaclava with another ski cap on top, or as a mask with a separate hat. When used that way, the lightweight wool is really an asset, as it is easy to breath through without much condensation and it dries quickly. I'm from Florida and generally feel cold when temps drop below 65. I think this will be a great product to keep in my car for when the temperature drop, and I'll definitely throw it into my bag when traveling.

Love it - very versatile and practical
I tried a bunch of things to protect my face and nose against cold air in the winter. Balaclava is good but once I enter the indoor space it's too hot to keep it on. Regular Buff is not warm enough and anything made with fleece gets soggy cold when wet. Then I found this. It's made of Merino wool so it's non itchy and super soft, and best of all, keeps me warm even when moist from exhalation. It's long enough so I can use it as a baraclava or layered to increase warmth depending on the temperature. I prefer to keep one layer on my nose and everything below gets 2 layers so I can still breath easily while the rest of my face stays warm in cold wind. Like all neck gaitors or baraclavas that cover the nose, it will fog up your glasses or goggles if they are big. I am able to avoid that by using a pair of sunglasses with small lenses. That way the warm moist area can mostly escape before hitting the lenses. I wash it by hand and air dry, but it can be used many times before needing washing. Very pleased with this purchase. The price is great. The navy color goes with everything without looking like everyone else's basic black.

Breathable and well made gaiter for the cooler seasons.
This merino wool gaiter is ideal to keep the cold out of my jacket. Very warm and long enough to bring up over my ears and face. Very colorful and looks great! The wool is breathable, not too thin or too thick. Perfect for the cooler seasons. Works well with ski helmets.

Longer than expected, but warm, soft, and not scratchy
Neck gaiter is longer than expected, but it sits well and keeps me warm. Not too bulky. Material is soft and not scratchy.

Long but comfortable!
This thing is LONG!! I bought it to use for on my motorcycle and like it a lot to prevent my jacket from shafing around my neck but also from bugs flying into my neck. I did end up buying a second one in a differnt color. I hope the both good up. The material seems thin but overall the gaiter seems of good quality.

Effective and versatile
I bought this to compare to my scarf, and I actually like it much better than the scarf. Instead of taking it on and off when going to and from work, I can just leave it on all day, so my neck stays warm but there are no dangling ends to get in my way or get caught by anything. Also, I can pull it over my mouth and nose more easily and securely than trying to do the same thing with the scarf. You can even theoretically pull it over your whole head with your face sticking out, if you forgot your hat and also want to keep your ears warm. It comes with a paper that demonstrates multiple ways to wear it. I was afraid that this would be itchy, but although it is not exactly super-soft, I haven't noticed any itchiness. It might be different for people with more sensitive skin, though; I'm not sure. The only minor complaint I have is that it's not very stretchy when bunched up, and I have to be careful when putting it on (I was not careful enough one time and accidentally squished my eyeballs a bit, though the sensation quickly faded and there doesn't seem to be any lasting effect). You can alternatively pull it on along its length like a sock rather than bunching it up like I do, but I don't really like the sock method because it musses my hair more and causes a bit of static electricity buildup. But if it was any looser, it probably wouldn't do as good a job of keeping my neck warm, so the complaint is _very_ minor. Overall, I recommend this product.

Really long and true to color
I bought this is purple. I haven’t worn it outside yet but am looking forward it to. The length is really loooong which you will love or hate, depending on your use case. I wanted to be able to wear this as a thick turtle neck but also pulled up to cover my ears, mouth, and nose. As long as this gaiter is, I can easily convert it into a balaclava or just wear it pulled up to cover my ears. The material is soft. If you do pull it up over your nose, you can definitely breathe though the single layer with ease. To make the balaclava you’ll end up with a double layer and I still found it breathable. Update 11/2/19 — I wore this in 50-degree F weather. It provided a good block for a slightly open-necked squall jacket so cool air didn’t go down the front of my jacket. Also wore it inside at my destination. It was warmish but not too hot. It also is not scratchy and is comfortable to wear for long periods. I love this thing! Might have to go back and consider other colors.

Great gator
The thickness is just perfect thick enough to keep you warm but it seems like I could probably wear it in warmer weather although I wouldn't know right now being that it's been 20° here in New York I ride motorcycles and I use this as my scarf it works great you can wear it as a full face to cover your face the stitching is good quality I haven't had to wash it yet but assuming you do it by hand I can't see much going wrong being that the quality seems good it's definitely the longest Gator that I've had I've already reordered another one and for the price of $20 it's worth it to have a merino wool item and not some synthetic crap
