For some reason, Dell laptops come with straight power connectors, and that's a problem if you're trying to put the laptop into a hutch or use it on a shelf. In my case, it's a Dell Alienware 18" laptop which pretty much has to stay plugged in because of the high power consumption. I'm concerned that the sharp bend in the power wire might eventually cause the power supply to fail. This solved the problem -- the power wire itself is now straight and the 90 degree bend to fit the laptop reduced the clearance I need. While I wish this laptop could be powered from USB-C, this is the next-best solution.

I wasn't sure this would work on my laptop as it says it won't fit the 4540s and from the pictures I've seen that has the same AC jack as my 4530s. Well either they're wrong and it'll fit fine or the 4540s has a different jack or case than my 4530s because it works great on my laptop. I thought I might have to do some trimming on the adapter or the case because the jack is recessed in the body of the computer pretty far but it works like a charm. Plugs right in and doesn't rub anywhere. Now I'm wishing I bought the double set as I'm sure to lose this one eventually.

This right-angle adapter reduces the total distance that the power input protrudes from the laptop by about ¾ of an inch; From 2 inches to 1.25 inches, approximately. This could be particularly useful if your charging port is located at on either the left or right side of your laptop rather than the rear. Because this adapter works with my 180w Dell Alienware laptop, it should theoretically work with lower wattages as well, though I do not know if it would work with higher-power Dell machines that require a 240w power supplies. If you have a Dell laptop that requires 100w or less, consider getting a 7.4mm to USB-C adapter instead. A USB-C adapter would make charging your laptop a more universal and less tedious experience, especially since USB-C chargers are less expensive than 7.4mm barrel chargers and because USB-C can be used for many more applications than what the 7.4mm charger can be used for. USB-C adapters do not appear to be available yet for wattages greater than 100w. Overall, this is a great niche product. it does its job well, though I do recommend that the seller should clearly state what wattage this adapter is capable of passing through.

My original adapter was starting to shred due to the pull of the cord when I am plugged in. This nifty little right angle adapter was just what I needed. It works great and eliminates the pulling of the cord.

It isn't as sturdy as I thought it would be. If it gets warm, it bends at the 90° joint. The rubber-like shell around it can soften and melt quite easy. My suggestion is to not use this for electronics that will be having a lot of power going through the cable, because this product could cause a fire when not exercising caution. Make sure this product is well ventilated as to stay cool.

I had been faced with my laptop power aimed in the wrong direction, but this adapter turned 90 degrees to the right. Not 88 or 89 degrees. Not 91 or 92 degrees, but precisely 90 degrees. The seas parted, the clouds lifted, blue skies abounded while the birds and bees did whatever they do in private, all in the knowledge that electricity had been safety and economically turned on its' side. Hallelujah, I say. Bring me more of these.

After my third charger cable failed at the end of the strain relief where the straight cable connects to my laptop, I decided that a right angle adapter should eliminate that problem. It does appear that cable failure will be eliminated. Unfortunately, the adapter is in a very snug fit. The adapter falls out of the connector on the laptop very frequently. Occasionally, the cable from the charger falls out of the adapter. Ar least, I don't have to continuously buy new chargers.
