AWS-100 Digital Scale 1/100th of a (g) accuracy
I actually ordered 2 scales. One to keep at my place and one for my girls house. Both scales are manufactured by America Weigh Scales. I needed a portable digital scale to help me manage my meal time, caloric intake, because of diabetes. The scales digital readout is mounted on the side of the scale and actually is only open when using the device. The AWS scale has all the bells and whistles of a weighing device that easily costs 3-4 times as much. The new scale has possibly, the most easy, self-intuitive, curve there is for learning the scales features, controls, and various functions. It has 4 modes for weighing. It weighs (g)grams, (oz)ounces, (ct)carats and (gn)grains. Just tap the mode button to switch between measurement units. The scale has a very nice 2 piece, plastic case to protect the scale when not in use. The 2 pieces of the case consists of 1 large base and a smaller sized lid, which can both be used to weigh with. There's also a tare button, which takes and automatically subtracts the weight of your weighing container so your a measurements are precise and exact. You put your container on the powered up scale tray. The backlit display shows the weight of your measuring container. Just tap the tare button again, the display will now read 0.00, you're now ready to add your desired item to be weighed, onto the weighing container. Your scale has a +/- tolerance of 0.02 g. It's well constructed and has a 10 year warranty. By the way, it's powered by 2 AAA batteries. I will gladly recommend this wholeheartily to you, my family and friends.

AWS-100 Digital Scale - Excellent - EZ Sell
This review is for the American Weigh Scales (AWS) AWS-100 digital scale. The ad was labelled "AMW-100" but the correct model name is "AWS-100". I purchased the scale from EZ Sell via Amazon. It was shipped by EZ Sell and it arrived in only 3 days from the order date with standard (free) shipping.I received the silver scale as advertised---it is available in black from other sellers. The AWS-100 has a maximum capacity of 100 grams and a sensitivity of 0.01 grams. Most scales like this are calibrated with a weight equal to the scale's maximum capacity and a suitable 100 gram calibration weight was included by the seller. This was a major reason why I chose to buy from EZ Sell as opposed to another seller. As others have reported, the weight is provided in a tiny ziplock bag that is quite flimsy. I recommend getting a heavier ziplock for storage since the one provided tears easily.I tested the calibration weight with another AWS scale (that was already calibrated) and it read exactly 100.0 grams. Then I tested the new AWS-100 scale. The calibration weight read 100.24 grams. The rated tolerance for the AWS-100 at 100 grams is 0.02 grams which means that the scale should read from 99.98 to 100.02 grams. The AWS-100 instructions said that it is normal to recalibrate the scale whenever it is moved or shipped to a new location. It was extremely easy to calibrate using the instructions provided. The scale now reads a perfect 100.00 grams with the calibration weight. The AWS-100 works very well. It is fast and very sensitive---gently breathing on it will cause the reading to increase a few hundredths of a gram. The LCD readout is easy to read. The features work very well: It is easy to change units (g, oz, gn, ct) with the "Mode" button or zero a tray with the "Tare" button. I was very glad to see that the non-removable hinged cover lays completely flat when opened so it is totally out of the way in case you need to lay an oversized tray or object (like an envelope) on the scale platform.Having an accurate scale with a 0.01 gram sensivity that can be easily calibrated by the user is awesome for this price (US$16.99 with the 100 gram calibration weight). It includes a 10-year warranty from the manufacturer, AWS. It seems to offer excellent value and I'm very satisfied with it. I highly recommend it.

I would buy it again **4+ year update**
**7/19 Long term update is after original review**I'm still waiting for my calibration weight, so I haven't done a lot with this yet. It seems to work just fine though. It was really inexpensive, so I didn't expect much, but so far I've been pleasantly satisfied with it.****EDIT****My calibration weight finally showed up a few days ago, (from a different seller), so I got to test this thing for real. And... (drum roll please...)I'm pleased to say that it seems to actually be reasonably accurate. And by that I mean that it's not perfect, but considering how inexpensive it is, I'd say it's damn good. I put a 100g weight on it, calibrated it, and then lifted, waited for zero, and replaced the weight. I did this 3 or four times. It didn't always land exactly on 0 again, and it didn't always land exactly on 100g again, but the discrepancies between the two were never more than 2-3/100ths.I then turned it off, then back on, and did all of this again, with the same results. So ya, not perfect. However, for a $20 scale, I'd say that a consistent accuracy to within 2/100ths of a gram is pretty damn good.I would definitely buy this again.**July 2019 update**I've used this scale a few times a week, every week, for over 4 and a half years now and it's still working awesome! I did the exact same calibration test just moments ago and I still got the exact same results. When lifting and replacing the weight 7 or 8 times the results fluctuated by 3/100ths. That's not bad at all, especially considering that this scale now sells for less than $10!Be gentle with it, don't drop it, and just generally take care of it, and it'll be good to you too.
