A fascinator it certainly is, too--the basic clip-on, heart-shaped, gathered-mesh standard, although this one is fairly big for that type of item and does have some nicer decorative features attached to pretty it up. You can either clip right into your hair or onto the black hairband that is also included, which adds to the value, as more and more come without that touch these days. The problem is that either there are some shortcuts being taken in production or there is large variance in production quality affecting the item's look, which means the look from the picture selling the item that I used to make my decision isn't at all possible to achieve! As depicted, it looks like there is a rounded dome shape extending around the front and sides, making it seem like you'll be able to achieve a half-veil effect like those classic, elegant hats from the 1930s-50s used to offer women wanting a little glamour. It was precisely that glamorous veil I needed for my specific costume for an upcoming event--the costume of Frankenstein's widow. I didn't want to use the traditional Frankenstein's bride wig, as in my experience any wigs are always too hot, uncomfortable and difficult to keep in place (no matter how cool and transformational they seem in the mirror/planning stage). I initially was thinking of the black mantilla veil with some silver or white embroidery might work (as many widows would have worn, as well as late as the 1970s), along with the inevitable (and messy) hair coloring spray turning streaks white. I gave it some more thought, and I decided that an accessory with a cage or half veil and black and white feathers would give me the drama, volume, and contrast of the original monstrous bride deconstructed into the glamorously grieving for the cameras as she picked up a wealthy life happily single. I spent a lot of time going through the millinery, fascinator, feather, and veil accessories when I encountered this product and thought I had hit the jackpot, indeed! Yet it looks like there is much more of a dome shape in the picture than there actually is to the item, when it's more of a lip. Tilt it all you want, but nothing short of a vertical drop clipped in above your forehead would get this to cover the eyes down to any part of the nose. The spotted veil is there to help as a nice accent to the decoration on the top of the fascinator, but it won't extend to cover any part of you. I certainly didn't expect a dome hat and understood it would come to the usual triangle point in the back these heart-shaped gathers of springy mesh provide without having to include the bulk and expense of a true hat; I did expect something with more of the shape shown. My costume needs and plans don't define your purposes, of course, and you might find yourself satisfied that this item can give you the drama you want for the occasions you use it. Being a larger-sized item with those white feathers contrasting with the black mesh and net details, it is attention-grabbing. Also on the up side, the fascinator came very quickly (beating the estimated delivery date) and was well packaged in a protective plastic bag with the design logo's imprint that shipped inside a large padded envelope with bubble wrap lining. However, when you wear a larger item for this kind of drama, it has to fit with your intentions and the kind of statement you want to make. If that involves something more like a half veil and the look in the photo, then you should keep looking for another item.

I ordered this last minute to try something a little different. I knew I didn’t want a traditional veil! This was perfect to wear for a while- easy to clip in and take out. And I didn’t pay a fortune, so I didn’t mind that I didn’t wear it for long!

This fascinator was a beautiful addition to my Diner en Blanc outfit! It was flashy in a good way and the veil was just dramatic enough. I used the headband option and it was easy to adjust and very comfortable to wear. It arrived quickly and in good condition, ready to wear.

Perfect for the look I was going for. I love the clip attached which makes it really easy to place anywhere on the hair. Took family pictures earlier in the day and it really created an elegant vibe.

VERY cute, but this item is NOT PINK. It is peach/orange. Don’t make the mistake of buying to match a dress you’ve already purchased like I did.Again, it’s adorable, but most definitely not pink.

I purchased this for a derby party and received lots of compliments. I love the headband it made it so much more comfortable to wear. I'd suggest ordering it early because it came a little smashed but popped back into place after a few days.

My clip was bent so it was awkward
