It doesn't show up well in these pictures, but my 21-lb mixed breed has a long, thin neck and a barrel chest. It's tough to find a harness that fits and doesn't rub his armpits or his tummy raw. The Ruffwear Hi & Light can be adjusted to fit him very comfortably. His chest is 19.25". I ordered the XS. The neck adjustment is almost as tight as it can go, and the chest has a couple of inches still available either way. He's been wearing this harness for about a month, through all kinds of weather. So far no chafing and the harness still looks like it's brand new. It does slide from side to side a bit, but it still seems secure. My dog is neither an escape artist nor a puller. He usually sticks pretty close to me on a loose leash. He is a shy dog, though. A few times he's been scared and tried to run. The harness held him securely and he was not able to wiggle out.I use the light loop to hold his tags on a carabiner and the cord inside the ID pocket to attach the poop bag holder. If something should happen, I want his tags to be very visible. I'm not sure that anyone would know to look in the pocket.I don't know why other reviewers say that the sizing is off. I found it to be right on. Perhaps there is confusion about how the adjustment works. Ruffwear has a YouTube video showing how to adjust the neck and chest to fit your dog. It's not entirely intuitive.

This is perfect for my little 13” Sheltie. It stays out of his arm pits and doesn’t impede his shoulder movement. It’s light weight so it doesn’t weigh him down. The hardware is size appropriate meaning they made it with small snaps not 1” buckles on a small dog. The larger sizes are sized up approximately. Duh! Makes sense but the other harness makers don’t seem to adjust to the size of the dog. I have bought more expensive harnesses and this one is the best I have come across. Easy to put on too. It also has a pocket on top to stuff a poop bag in it. Quality materials. The color implied it was red but it’s orange which is what I was hoping for. I would buy another one.

Harness was purchased for dog sport competition where you have to "spot" the dog with a leash attachment at the back of a harness. After scrutinizing all the reviews and brands, I came up with 3 of them and this is the one I will keep. I especially like the comfort factor, and the design - meaning it does not obstruct natural shoulder movement. Once we got it on, he was perfectly comfortable (more than I can say about some of the other harnesses I ordered). The fitting guide was accurate and the harness was able to be tightened and loosened at front and back to fit him.... bringing me to what I do NOT like about this harness. Dang if it didn't take 3 capable adults almost an hour to figure out how to manipulate the clip and slider to loosen the back section. Not kidding: I tried for several minutes, then handed it to my husband, then he handed it to our son.... just be forewarned that strap adjustment is a little frustrating (and we are experienced with dog and horse equipment)! Next, I do wish there was a front ring leash attachment as well, although I knew that from the description (it's just silly that there isn't one there). Also, I have a husky, so I am acutely aware of the sturdiness of any collar or harness. The nylon material part is fabulous - comfy, light, strong and well designed but the plastic clips are flimsy, and I'm shocked this brand has such light closure clips on the body ... I will be using this only for competition for him because I wouldn't trust the flimsy clips on hikes. It's a top-notch brand I've used their equipment for my dogs for many years, but this particular harness has some flaws.

Like many reviewers, I measured my dog and ordered a harness according to the size chart provided. So I was surprised when the harness arrived and it was too small. So I ordered a bigger size and was surprised to find it was also too small - the harness itself was bigger but the straps were just as long as the original size!That's when I discovered the trick - the straps are tucked into the harness and you need to tug on them and pull them out until you can see the ends so you can adjust the sizing for your doggie. The harness ships at its tightest setting and will need to be adjusted.Once I figured this out, the size that best fit my dog was the one I first ordered according to the size guide. The harness is easy to put on and seems to be comfortable for my dog. Most importantly, it does not choke my Shiba like some of the other harnesses we have used.I hope this helps! :)

We just love the ease of this Ruffwear harness, it has grown perfectly with our Australian Labradoodle, Teddy! It is easily adjustable as well, and has been super durable. 💯 recommend this product! The sizing guide they include on the listing is accurate.

As with all Ruffwear harnesses, the Hi & Light is very well stitched and quite sturdy. The sizing however was off, for both my French Bulldog and my Yorkipoo. They have two entirely different body types and this harness fit awkwardly on both.

I know they are kind of expensive but if you get them on a good deal they totally worth it. They are light weight which I love for my dog and they are also comfortable to go hiking or trail running.

Für unseren großen Ersthund haben wir dieses Geschirr zweimal und sind sehr zufrieden. Es war auch schon in der Waschmaschine und im Trockner, danach sah es aus wie neu. Deshalb haben wir es etwas kleiner für den Zweithund gekauft. Leider musste ich es zurück schicken. Die kleine ist eher lang und dünn, es passte so überhaupt nicht. Aber dennoch 5 Sterne, weil es ein super Geschirr für den großen bulligen ist.
