Universal Philadelphia Cervical Neck support Collar Firm Foam Cervical Neck Brace

This collar provides excellent protection while in the shower. It is made of dense foam and is completely waterproof. With its single large velcro fastener, is is quick and easy to fasten and unfasten. Due to its stiffness and and rigidity, it is fairly uncomfortable, and is not something to be worn at length during everyday activities. Because it extends downward beyond the beginning of the thorasic region in the back, it is extra beneficial to those who have had fusions and must avoid tilting the head backward while looking upward. In fact, it significantly restricts head/neck movement of any kind. I am glad that I discovered it and will be keeping mine in the shower until a collar is no longer being worn for healing/protection purposes.

I’ve bought and returned countless neck braces trying to find something that will help with my drop head syndrome caused from radiation fibrosis. It is so hard to find something semi comfortable with adequate support and doesn’t dig into my collarbone or jawbone or make me feel as if I’m being choked. Wanted something not quite as bulky as the stiff neck collars often given in the ER. I had to make a few adjustments to this collar as it’s definitely made for a bigger person like in the picture. All in all after the adjustments I’ve kept this as it gives adequate support and is more comfortable than other braces I’ve had.

Perfect for shower use.

This is a of of foam that has NO chin support whatsoever. First, shipping, the USPS, rolled this up to fit into my small mailbox. That should tell you it has NO real support. Without a protruding chin rest the front will edge up and go across your mouth and finally stops when it gets to your nose. Be advised, if you have a small nose it may travel further upward. this collar has a small indentation that your chin is suppose to rest on,the indentation is probably a quarter of an inch wide, iI dont know about you but the difference between the bottom of my chin and my neck is wider then two inches. I own a Philadelphia collar from the 80's. It actually will support your head above your neck. One of the reviews I read said this item works great in the shower. If you're only wearing it while in the shower I'm sure its acceptable. If you need it to help with migraines or occipital nerve pain don't waste your money. I think I'll have new Velcro put on my old collar, at least I know what I'm getting.

Purchased for a family member to use as a shower collar after a neck fracture.

I can't particularly knock this collar. It seems like it does the job well enough. I just found it so uncomfortable I couldn't wear it at all. I have a C-2 fracture. The Aspen Vista collar was the best for me. I suppose it would depend on what your injury, your treatment and how long you had to wear it. I did buy two of these collars from difference sources and both were the same awful experience. I was sick of my Aspen collar but after wearing these Philadelphia collars for a few hours, I came crawling back to my old friend Aspen and am now grateful for it. Currently in week 6 of 12 weeks. A better solution would be not to break your neck in the first place :).

We bought this collar so my husband could take a shower . He had a cervical spinal fusion and was given a rigid collar known as a Miami J. The foam collar we bought from Amazon works great as a short term and waterproof substitute. It’s comfortable and easy to take on and off.

Arrived quickly, however found it larger than I expected for the size medium and it does hold my chin up to the degree I need to relieve neck pain in back of neck. Little adjustment available.
