Good brightness, good range, good price... but finicky.
So, this is almost perfect. I used this interchangeably with a Black Pearl, and I found this worked every bit as well as the Black Pearl. It's substantially brighter, and it has a DVR.There is one little issue, which was partially my fault. The instructions are pretty flimsy and don't really cover the brightness. There are 5 levels of brightness, indicated from brightness level 1 to brightness level 5. It doesn't say which number is brighter. Well, choose well, my friend, because I picked brightness level 1, and it turns the display *completely off*, and now it's impossible to turn it back on unless you remember the exact sequence to get back to that menu, and I sure didn't.I fixed it by trying to power cycle it a few times (no), plugged it into an external display (no), pressing the reset button (the one on the back of the case is not actually a reset hole, it's just painted on, nice one guys), pulling the cmos battery (no), and finally flashed the firmware, which is pretty simple and doesn't require being able to see the screen. (*see the 6/27 update for more on this) Still, there is no real reason for this setting to exist at all, and the hassle cost it a star. The DVR feature works adequately, although it for some reason it records the video in little 2 minute chunks instead of one video file. I don't care about that, but sometimes the screen goes black for a second while it starts a new file.Other than that, having used it for a few weeks I would unhesitatingly recommend it over the Black Pearl.***EDIT 3/15/15***Well, 13 days after being delivered, it stopped working. Figures. For some reason it suddenly started displaying "card locked" no matter what card I tried to use with it. I reset it to defaults, tried 6 different cards, re-flashed the firmware... no dice. Without being able to write to SDcards, it can no longer use the DVR function, so there is no real reason to use this. What a shame; this is going back to Amazon.*** Edit 5/28/15***I never did return it, because it just started working again 2 days later with no changes. No clue why it was saying card locked (with every card I tried, half a dozen) and why it suddenly started working again. Since then it's been going strong. I'm going to bump it back up to 3 stars. It really is a great product when it's working, but it's not super dependable. That being said, I've never had an issue with using it in-flight, other than the aforementioned brief black screen when it starts recording a new video chunk.*** Edit 06/27/15 ***Twice now I'd had it freeze up when turning it off, and it stayed on and nonresponsive. The first time I was done flying so I just let the battery run itself down. The second time I did some googling and it turns out, there _is_ a reset button, and you can reach it without opening the case - it's on the opposite side of where it says it is on the case; the template was printed upside down. I've attached a picture. Just poke it with a paperclip, back to defaults.I know I've posted a lot of downsides to this, but I'd like to reiterate that is actually a pretty solid FPV receiver. I get more range out of this than I did with the Black Pearl, the picture is pretty solid, it's substantially brighter, it has a DVR... and it costs less than the Black Pearl. Despite the issues I've had, I'd still recommend this as an FPV monitor.

Great monitor
Works perfectly, reception is great with swapped cloverleaf antenna. The only minor problem is SD card slot is too tight.
