The Most Definitive, Educational Text on the Subject
This is one of the most articulate and insightful overviews on a substance that otherwise generates great mystery to "users" and non-users alike.I have tried for years to properly explain the "unexplainable" to those curious about LSD. This author achieved in the first five pages what I spent 20 years trying to communicate. This treatise should be taken seriously by users, advocates, opponents, and scientists. It is, quite simply, the definitive text on LSD.

Great!
I thought the book was extremely informative. And as a person who has never used LSD before I feel much more prepared to take the substance if I ever decide to. I thought it was well written and brings to lights many positive aspects of LSD while discouraging many popular myths, a lot of which I believed myself. I recommend this book to anyone who has questions about LSD and certainly to those who are serious about trying it and Never have before.

Good book
Was a good book that took a very honest approach to information about lsd and gave a far more fair assessment of its potential uses and abuses.

Did not want this book. Was looking for one about acid reducers, like nexium, that a Dr. Had written.

Shines like a crazy diamond
I came across this book shortly after it had been released from a website I frequent mentioning it. I enjoy reading the literature that there is on LSD, whether it's skimming through old scientific reports from the 60's or personal stories written by the users, so I was excited to see this book that was geared to providing the information in a clear, easy to understand way for experienced users and newcomers alike. It delivers on that note. The book covers a broad range of topics and the author is clear and concise when explaining the general ideas of each topic presented. If you're looking for a very in-depth book about the history and research done on LSD, there are other books that will satisfy you more than this one. This book has its purpose and sticks to it well. While there are a few things I wished the book went into more depth into (The effects, other peoples personal stories) I understand that it can be difficult to do, due to the fact that while there are basic effects nearly everyone will experience, the varieties of them beyond that are infinite and there's no practical way everything could realistically be covered or explained in a book. If you've already researched and are experienced with use of LSD this book will probably not bring many new ideas to the table for you, but I would definitely consider it a good resource to give to a friend to read who might be interested or for the newcomer who just wants to know a little bit more of everything.

The most comprehensive text about LSD on the Internet
The only thing I disliked about the book is its catchy (clickbait) title, which is in a way misleading regarding the contents: it's not just about dropping acid, "going out and having fun" - it's much deeper and more informative in every relevant aspect (just read the table of contents to get the idea).

An excellent resource for the curious
There are thousands of books about LSD, covering the drug from very possible angle. Bewan's Dropping Acid isn't doesn't offer any radical insights into the drug but what it does do in a clear, sinmple and methodical way is talk you through the very basic of LSD use. This aspect is often glossed over in other books on LSD or it is just assumed everyone knows. Had I read this when I was 16 it would have told me things I only later came to learn through (sometimes bitter) experience. It would be an excellent book, for instance, for someone contemplating taking LSD for the first time, a student doing a project on LSD or something to give a worried parent. It does make the mistake of dwelling too much on the American experience of LSD when in fact the UK has an equally rich tradition of LSD use. Irritating in parts due to its pedanticness but overall asincerely written book by someone who wants to help inform people how to use this miraculous drug safely and sensibly for the best results.Andy Robertsauthor of Albion Dreaming: A Popular History of LSD in Britain
