American Presidential China: The Robert L. McNeil, Jr., Collection at the Philadelphia Museum of Art

I may be biased after seeing so many books and films about the history, care, and storage of things in the Royal Family of England. They take great care of the many items that are part of their history. I was let down by the book, not that the author did anything wrong but because much of the history of the White House, which lives our countries top leader is so limited. Jacqueline Kennedy did as much as the community could within the few years she was in the White House. She was correct to believe the White house should be our showcase of the history of nation. I'm use to the British films they have made that shows the maintenance, care, display as well as storage of fine things that belonged to the Royals and kept in the Palace. I understand that Museums with all of the wonderful design and technology are helpful with storing many items for both the White House and the Palaces. That would be nice to see how they do it. I'm a part of the age of Martha Stewart ideals. There is a proper way of keeping things maintained. She made an art of learning how to do things well.

After seeing the China Room on a White House tour, and seeing the china display at the Smithsonian, I was very curious about the practice of each president selecting his own china. The book gave wonderful details and photos, and I am such a geek that I keep the book on my desk.

Collect Woodmere White House china and this is my fourth book about the distinction between White House and Presidental china that was used in the White House. Overall a very good book and enjoyed the read as well as the pictures.

Wanted to find Jefferson's China pattern.
