They have been sitting in the box unopened that they arrived in since Jan. First time to use them lit them with a long match under some smaller starter wood in the fire place .. I used 2 pucks,, (you don't need (2 pucks) for an average size fireplace) Worked exactly as described, pucks lit easily, burned hot enough to catch the smaller starter wood, just perfect to set the thicker log on for a slow stead fire for the rest of the evening. Will purchase this product again.updated: 10/26/2019 , purchased 2016 , less then half a box left that has been stored away. Still perfect to light quickly and burn true . great product.

I like to keep these around because the work! We have 2 fireplaces that we use throughout the winter. Maybe I’m not patient enough. These pucks concentrate the flame on the kindling better so the fire starts faster and easier.

These work so well. We didn't get to camp until dark. We just threw a couple in the fire pit with some kindling and had a steady fire in minutes. Even in a heavy rains the cellophane covering protected the rounds. It was also great for a quick start on the beach with winds. Will definitely be taking these on Camping trips from now on.

The media could not be loaded.  We use it at our fireplace! this fire starters are very convenient for us! easy to use and so simple to store since they are all individually packaged! I use 1/4 to start the fire and the fire started very quickly! , even my friend who is terrible at starting fires was like a pro with these fire starters! she wanted to use the whole thing and did not believe the a quarter was enough until she tried it! now she is getting it for the fireplace! these will be excellent in summer time for bbq's!All in all quick fire starter, the fire lasted a lot! and I love that there was not funny smell at all! I love these fire starter!

Starters work very well. They burn plenty long enough to get charcoal started, are very easy to start, and burn away almost completely. I also like the duraflame starter sticks, but find they can be difficult to get/keep going. I like that there are many individually wrapped "pucks", but would find it great if there was a smaller size. One of these is larger than necessary to start a fire, and I often break them in half or quarters. If there was a variation with a wax/paper wrapper (completely burnable) instead of the plastic that would be great as well.

I've been using these for about a month, and can finally write a favorable review. I use them to start my fires in my wood burner, as opposed to my old method of preparing kindling, and wadding a couple pieces of newspaper. This is much easier, they burn about 10-15 minutes, enough to get my fire going again in the stove, without having to prepare kindling. Couple of items to be aware of, they stick together so plan to give it a bit of umph to separate the disks. They're sealed in plastic, so no mess TILL you open them. Here's my way of dealing with it, place one disk on a paper towel, score it with your utility knife along the "already scored" lines, by pushing the utility knife into the score 3 or 4 times down each diagonal. Fold up in paper towel, and break into 4 pieces. Carefully open the paper towel, remove the plastic. Place 3 pieces in a sandwich bag for the next 3 uses, and carefully fold the other one without plastic, in the paper towel. Carry it over to the stove, and place in your splits. Lite the paper towel, enjoy. Sorry for the details but these little buggers can leave quite a mess if you're not careful. They burn great but love to drop little pieces off everywhere when you handle them. Enjoy the fire:)

I can never get a fire to stay going and have used several other products. I usually have to use 2 or 3 to get the fire going hot enough to really get a fire going in my fireplace. These are amazing. I use 1/3 of the puck, light it, and just let it go. Without having to stand there and baby it, these will light even damp wood without a problem.

Individually wrapped so no Mess and waterproof for camping. It broke into half very easily. First picture has been split in half and burning for 5min it started a lot easier than Most fire starters. Have to mention again how great it is that they are individually wrapped. Surprising warmth coming from it and it holds form after burning for 10 minutes.(most melt). Second picture flame has died down but still burning. Would have a roaring fire by now. Third picture is after poking it basically erupted in flame I think with wet wood I will be able to start a fire Probably not frozen wood unless your a master fire builder but for indoor use these are top notch I will edit after camping with them.
