it smells perfect just like shea butter should. i love the packaging helps me keep it fresh, clean and wrapped. i use it on myself, my dog and in my soap-making. the quality is great for soap making, when using directly on skin you'll feel moisturized and not greasy and i put very little on my puppy belly and paws got a bath he had some of the softest paws and it a bright yellow color i have it for a year and half and stored correctly will last for a long time

It feels slightly gritty when first applying but it melts smoothly into your skin & doesn't leave you feeling extra greasy. I replaced my old she butter with this brand & I couldn't be happier.

The shea butter appears fresh and has the slightly nutty scent I associate with good, raw shea butter. As many reviews note, because they cut this from larger slabs and do not melt and pour it into molds, the weight is not exactly 5 pounds. Mine was just above 5 pounds, but being below by the same amount would not have bothered me. I'm happier with the "cut from slab" product than the ones that are melted and poured into a container, as I often find those to have a slightly gritty texture from uneven cooling. It's nice to get what I know is raw shea butter from a single slab and not product that has been melted down from several batches.
