Thorough and Hollistic
This book is great - it really gives you all the background you could ever want about aerobatics and how to execute each maneuver. The detailed science behind each portion of a maneuver empowers you to know whats happening at each point which helps you react naturally (instead of mechanically) when practicing. For me, it feels like a holistic approach to understanding things instead of a prescriptive approach of what to do. I have other books that have the bullet points and sight pictures which are also handy but I really appreciate the understanding that comes from reading this book.

Excellent aerobatics reference book
This is an excellent reference for the aspiring or seasoned aerobatics competitor. The first part of the book covers the basic aerobatic figures and the later parts explain the more advanced combined figures in detail. Alan covers the finer details of flying the aerobatic figures with charts and sketches showing the horizon image and the coordination between the stick and rudder during various parts of each figure. There is a section on reading the Aretsi symbols and information on what the judges look for. The aerobatic competitor has to create the illusion of a perfect figure as seen by the judges while flying into a headwind and crosswind or flying in calm air. Alan explains how all of that is done in great detail. You have to digest the information in this book in small doses, there is a considerable amount of information in it.

Best aerobatics book ever
I thought I had the best books on aerobatic until I found this one. The differnces in this one and the others are the details and explaining the difference between competition and show maneuvers from basic to the unlimited class. It describes the mechanical control movements, the aerodynamics of the aircraft(s), and what the judges are seeing and scoring for competition. It also describes the differences among the aircraft types from the basic training type aircraft to the specifically designed for aerobatics aircraft for each maneuver. For even those that have received acro training to the sportsman level, the exercises and cautions for more advanced maneuvers are covered very well. Will be a long time if ever before anyone tops this book for basic and advanced aerobatic knowledge and training.

I don't have a lot of other books to compare this one to, but it is pretty well written and seems to have a fairly good explanation of all maneuvers. I could see that it could be even further improved on but it's a very decent book.

Excellent information and well written!
This book is awesome! I never knew you could use words for something so challenging to do. I would recommend this book to anyone that loves to fly.

If you buy one aerobatic book, buy this one.
Great diagrams and covers pretty much everything. If you buy one book on aerobatics I would recommend this one. Nothing can compare to a good aerobatic instructor, but if you have just learned or are about to learn a maneuver, reading about the maneuvers before or after is great for understanding and remembering how its done right. Whenever I see it on the book-shelf it makes me want to strap on the parachute and go pull some g's!

Great book for beginner or advanced pilots
Great book. I certainly had no problem understanding the (very few) terms that are uniquely British. No other aerobatic book comes close to the level of the "why" that Mr. Cassidy provides.

Flying for fun
For pilots wanting to get into aerobatics this is a very easy to understand straight forward explanation of techniques and the earodynamics and physics that are being experienced by the aircraft during the manoeuvre. Same goes for non pilots who are just intested in the art of seat of the pants flying rather than staring at computer screens. Also includes safety enforcement. like 'Look out of the window' and 'fly within the aircrafts design perameters' and Don't fly too low.

Worthwhile buy. Very good.
I have a fair amount of experience in basic aerobatics. I completed my training with the RAF which included aerobatics on their elementary and basic flying training courses on the Grob 115 tutor, and then on the Tucano turboprop. Yet this book has so much more detail that it will progress you on from the basic manoeuvres, on to flicks, rolling turns, avalanches and Ming vases...! Good stuff indeed!!!
