Just like heaven
It amazes me how smells can communicate, conjur up feelings and provide punctuation to one's character in so many ways. TOBS has wonderful colognes to use after shaving, and after looking around for a good sandalwood cologne, I chose this one. I have to say it was a marvelous decision. Their cologne (as their others) is light, luxurious and definitively gentlemanly. It isn't overpowering, but has just enough kick to freshen the pores and give a lasting scent trail. I put on a good amount (shaken into my hand), and it lasted on me for 5+ hours. The sandalwood smell itself is so wonderful! It is subtly sweet, with just the right amounts of musk and woods to layer it perfectly. What you smell in the bottle is what you get the entire time; no sneaky middlenotes here. It's not too light nor too brash. When I wear this cologne, I can really take a trip back to British India or late-19th century London, enjoying the outdoors and pride that those gents had. Rugby, building empires and sipping pints under palm trees were the order of the day; all the while making sure their wives would enjoy the way they smelled at the end of a long summer day.Back to reality, this will still warrant a glowing reaction from a loved one. Additionally, you yourself will feel a boost in spirits as this particular sandalwood cologne heralds self-confidence and old-school behavior. So I can only fully recommend TOBS sandalwood cologne to anyone searching for a superior scent that is unique and timeless. I doubt you will be disappointed! And, on a less creative-writing note, flat out, this is great cologne that has a similar refinement and quality to other TOBS colognes. If you've tried others from that house, you will surely like this one. And if you haven't, but enjoy barber-shop type scents (baby powder, fresh, clean, masculine, woodsy), you'll take to this I am sure. A++++++++++++

Classic scent
I love this cologne and use it as my daily wear. I’ve always loved the scent of sandal wood and this cologne compliments there sandal wood shave cream I use as well. I’m a person who likes the old simpler but high quality things in life. So I use Taylor of old Bond street sandal wood shave cream and a safety razor to get the smoothest and closest shave ever. It’s actually enjoyable to do and less expensive than the modern garbage cartridge razors. Putting this cologne on after my shave just enhances that rich sandal wood smell and my wife loves it as well. So win win lol.

Definitely not water
I don't know what some of the other reviewers are talking about. This stuff smells pretty strong. I definitely wouldn't classify this as "water". These reviewers olfactories may just be adjusting and therefore they can't smell it any more. This is not one of those super strong, no one can breathe when you enter the room colognes. This is a great smelling sandalwood cologne that can be smelled from about a foot to two feet away. The way cologne is meant to be.Great purchase!

Luxury Sandalwood Cologne? More Like Cologne Water...
This product, Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood CologneTaylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood Cologne, I was really hoping it would be something special. I mean. The name is elegant, right? "Old Bond Street". What could conjure up a mystique of the past when things were good, wholesome, better, when people were supposedly more ethical and reliable, and you didn't expect to get ripped off? And then the word, "Sandalwood". What a wonderful fragrance real sandalwood must have. Then the packaging is really a grabber. Nothing could entice you more than the package it is sold in. Someone spent a lot of time designing the packaging for this product. Well, I'm afraid anyone who spends $32.00 for this product is wasting their money. There is so little fragrance to this product, it might as well be "Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood Water" and not "Cologne". Well we learn as we get burned and ripped off. It seems there is nothing you can do about it, no recourse you can take, once you've handed over your hard saved money, a scarce resource in many homes these days. Anyway. If you are curious and you're shopping, and you think this product would be an interesting and valuable resource to add to your collection of colognes, and other fragrant products, don't waste your time with it. It will be one big disappointment.

Top shelf scent for a bargain price!
I saw several bad reviews, so I was hesitant. BUT, I'm very happy I decided to order it! It does not smell like dime shop cologne at all. I have tried several sandalwood scents over the years, but this is one of my favorites. It blends very well with my shaving cream and deodorant. I use a combination of scents in my routine: cedar, lavender, cocoa butter, and of course sandalwood. I get repeated compliments on the way I smell. If you're looking for a scent that is smooth and soft to the senses, with a little spiciness, this is definitely worth a shot. I like it better than most high priced colognes. It smells of top shelf quality, and it's not often that a cologne actually has a slight oil feeling to it (that is an absolute sign that it's not diluted down with alcohol and water) and it lasts all day. My wife loves it and makes ravenous sounds in response to it. It makes me feel good just smelling it, it's soothing and somehow adds confidence if that makes sense. Disregard the awful reviews, this is very good stuff!

Begins fresh and subtle, then fades away into overpowering patchouli.
Figured I would try this cologne out, it had good reviews, so I thought what the heck.I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 1 because I think it just comes down to my own personal taste, but I hate the smell of patchouli. Its OK in trace amounts as a background scent in colognes but it's not my bag when it takes the stage, front and center. This cologne comes in smelling nice and subtle, its an airy wispy fragrance, but after an hour or two it fades into nothing but patchouli. If you like the smell of patchouli, you'll probably like this cologne.
