Mark Feldstein Snowy Cabin Singing Cardinal Tabletop Wall Sound Christmas Cuckoo Clock 14x10

We got this as a gift for my son who kindly added to his Santa letter "A Cuckoo Clock" two weeks before Xmas. Thank God Santa has Amazon now... otherwise, I can imagine the crying, sobbing and moaning on Xmas morning... been there.I would say this is a budget Cuckoo clock, since while searching for one I saw some other at way higher prices. For the price, I believe this is a very good deal if you don't mind its plastic body construction. The snow and wood "finish" on the snowy cabin are mostly stickers, but the whole family believes it looks just fine.It is very light weighted and overall needs to be handled with some care, specially the clock hands which can be bent easily since they are exposed. Anyways, the packaging is very good and protects the product very well (boxed in molded styrofoam liners).The clock hour needs to be adjusted by rotating the minute hand forward (not sure if it works backwards too). Clock might seem a little cheap, but seems to work just fine.As expected the little bird (a very handsome plastic cardinal) at the hour will open its little doors, sing twice its melody, go back into the cabin and close the doors again. Sings nicely and I would say that the entire operation takes around 10 seconds. The door opening is a little nosy, but this is not an issue for us.The photo sensor included works fine, it actually seems to be very sensitive since the little bird will still sing at the hour in the night if we forget to turn off my son's night lamp, but again, not an important issue since in the dark it stays quiet. It has been very nice to hear the singing every hour, it actually keeps us on time in the morning when we are rushing for school... LOL. It also includes a test push button on one of the cabin sides, to make the bird come out and sing at any time.The clock uses one AA battery and I believe two C batteries for the little bird. It includes its own plastic pendulum which has to be attached (instructions could be better here) after hanging the clock on the wall... I believe this part is optional since the clock can also be placed on a table with no pendulum and still perform the same.All in all, great buy. We are pretty satisfied with the results considering the money Santa put on this. Hope this helps!***EDIT 5/28/2012: This cuckoo clock just survived yesterday a more or less 7 ft fall from the wall. One of my kids was messing with the clock and bam!... although I believe it landed on one of my son's toy, the battery cover and the batteries were all over the floor and the clock's hand for the seconds was bent, I placed the batteries back in with shaky hands, repaired the seconds hand, and voila! it is working again, the little bird is still signing as well... + one star for surviving the forced landing.

I love this cookoo . I t brings back memories of my grandmothers house.It sings and not cookoos but that’s ok. It’s not real wood but I have it hanging high so you can’t see it close up or touch it.I like that it has the swinging pendulum too.Gives it a lot of “life’.It is completely unique which I love that you will not see this in every ones house.I have only had it a couple weeks but hope it lasts for years but not sure how long it will last with all the extra things it does besides tell time

This went for return immediately. The second hand was bent at a 90 degree angle. I tried straightening it out and it was so loose that I knew it wouldn’t work but I put in the batteries anyway. The second hand and minute hand did not advance. So I decided to manually advance the minute hands to at least see if the cuckoo chirps. The doors opened, the bird chirped (cute), but then the doors got stuck and would not close so the bird just kept chirping. Huge fail. Don’t waste your energy on this one. It is cheaply made of thin plastic. You get what you pay for. I didn’t expect much because it was just to replace another clock in my office. But for $50 I don’t expect a German precision cuckoo, but it should at least work.

I cannot complain about the quality of the clock because for what I paid for it in comparison to the price of other toys this was an excellent buy. Actually it is a better quality than most of the toys now days. I bought it for Christmas for my 3 years old grandson and he ABSOLUTELY loves this clock! The button on the side is a good feature. When pushing it the door opens and the bird "sings". We do not need to wait for a whole hour pass by for the bird to come out. Indeed the sound of the bird is not exactly what one would expect from a bird but it is what it is....it's not bad just not a bird singing. It sounds rather like a chipmunk.Most importantly, my grandson learned at age 3 to tell the time.

In the ad the cardinal sounds like a cardinal. The clock I got doesn't sound like a cardinal. I realize they have different songs, but the clock I got doesn't sound like it. Otherwise it's a cute clock. Might send back. Still trying to decide.

This is a beauty clock. I bought it as a gift for my mother who loves cookoo clocks. I've heard the little bird in the background chirping away while on the phone with her. This was money well spent. Thanks for a beautiful product.

Nice clock with excellent product support by the manufacturer.I bought it in July but didn’t open the box until decorating for Christmas. It was not functioning properly and since it was not eligible for return, I contacted the manufacturer directly who solved the issue perfectly!

We purchased the christmas version of this clock and my little boy loved it so much that he wanted to put it in his room after Christmas was over (we had put it in the living room). So, I decided to purchase this clock which I felt would look nice in his room all year long. He loves it and so do I. Both clocks seem to be good quality. The only thing about this clock is that the cardinal tweets are a little annoying but not enough to not use it. He was very excited!!
