This is honestly the best knife I’ve ever owned. The qaulity of the blade and handle is top notch — honestly, I think it could easily be priced higher for what you get. The tip is insanely sharp and the serrated edge bites like nothing else. It doesn’t feel bulky or overly thick, so despite its size it’s surprisingly light and easy to carry. The overall feel is excellent — nicely balanced with just a small bit of weight that makes it comfortable and secure in the hand. I’m 6 ft tall and the blade is longer than my forearm, so it definitely has that intimidation factor, but it clips to my basketball shorts easily and is barely noticeable to wear. On the ease of opening: you can’t just flick it open with no practice. If you learn the technique you can use your thumb to start it and then flick it open, but that takes practice and could be risky given how sharp it is. I personally open it with my other hand — safer for me. The opening mechanism is a bit stiff at first (the stiffness is noticeable), but the lockup is rock solid. The balance and the Tri-Ad lock give me total confidence this thing won’t fold under pressure. It’s not a very thick knife, and I think that’s part of why it stays so light while still feeling durable. All in all, excellent build, razor-sharp performance, and a comfortable carry — great everyday carry if you want something that looks and feels serious without being unmanageable.

Nice larger pocketknife! I like this for a number of reasons, however, there are also some things I don't like. It is a nice large size when deployed, there are a few grip options, it would cut almost anything put before it because of the sharpness and blade design. However, the blade is very thin. So much so that it is quite flexible at the tip. It is good for my purposes but not very rugged. It is also a little tricky to close at first because it locks so well that to unlock the blade a decent amount of pressure must be exerted and in the right place too. Overall though it is really cool!

REVIEW OF SERRATED MODEL. No visible manufacturing defects. Exposed blade is about 5.25 inches. It will not slip from your hand. When the blade is open it is very stiff .... no wiggle in the X and Y axis. May be to long for some pockets. Purpose - My opinion is that THE SERRATED MODEL is a last resort self defense object. Only to be used to protect your life from a deadly predator. Scary geometry. It is hard to close. A lot of thumb pressure is needed. Imposible to close if you have severe arthritis.

One of the finest blades you will ever own. It's BIG. This is a man sized knife, and there is a reason that the President of the company carries 3 of them EDC - his words. This knife is made for self defense. You can do the mundane cutting utility chores with it, but it's not really made for that - it's made to save your life. I strongly recommend carrying something smaller as well, for the utility chores. I carry a Voyager Large Tanto half serrated, which is a fine knife in it's own right, as a back up to this, or sometimes I carry a Spyderco Endura. When I got the XL Vaquero, I got the plain edge, but now I want the serrated edge b/c they are claiming it has more cutting 'power'. We'll see.

The Vaquero has been my "Grail" knife for over a year. I know it's not THAT expensive, but it's more than I've spent on a knife before. It's totally worth it. This thing is a beast! The design, and grind on the blade are amazing. It arrived scary sharp. Verry slicey, especially toward the front 3 inches. The tip is pretty fine, allowing for an unexpected amount of deftness with detail work. Due to the unique blade shape, and breathtaking full flat grind, I wouldn't want to use this for doing something like splitting dry oak logs. but it will execute vines and brambles like they aren't even there, and will easily slice open pork bellies, zombies, and tatami mats by the handfuls. Clearly, this is an excellent fighting knife. The reach and grip are incredible, and the curve of the whisper sharp blade will definitely grab and slash a body in a catastrophic way. However, I sincerely hope to use it much more often for mundane things like harvesting cabbages, clearing trails, or carving the Thanksgiving turkey! ;) Despite being an X large knife, it does carry surprisingly well, not bulky or too heavy feeling. No, seriously. But yep, as others have mentioned, the clip is too tight. So, a word of warning... ~This thing WILL bite you!~ I read numerous stories about how snappy the closing action is, and how it will shut right on your fingers if they're in the way. I was super careful.. and it still got me a little, during a failed deployment (takes a bit of practice). Just a nip though, thankfully. Also, I swung it open in a reverse grip one time, and the meat of my thumb got caught in the back of the lock as it engaged, giving me a little blood blister. I didn't see that one coming. I thought I could almost hear Andrew Demko chuckling a little.. 🙄😏 lol Also, FYI, the Tri-AD lock is the most solid you'll find, but it is also no joke to disengage. You gotta press the back lock HARD. It's definitely not a 'fidget' knife. This is a glorious, & dangerous tool; an amazing specimen of some serious knife making. I'm very pleased to have it in my collection, and am excited to see what this incredible blade can do.

Maybe one of the best defense knives out there. Only problem for me is that the XL is a little slow to deploy because its so big I have to ship my grip to get it open. Other than that, its very ergonomic in hand. Looks like a much smaller knife as it sits clipped into the pocket. Open, its as solid as a fixed blade. Great design. I think Lynn Thompson and most of his crew are the best designers out there in regard to edged weapons - and they deliver those goods inexpensively. Entirely impressive. Came super sharp. Just a great deal on a great knife. Fearsome and unobtrusive defense. Not junk. Solid. Many uses. Probably the equal of any other similarly sized, similarly purposed knife on the planet. Buy several. Great gifts. Who knows what BS laws are looming with regard to self defense knives. Because that's what this is, a self defense knife. Just the sight of this thing is enough to deter most anyone trying to hurt or control your escape.

This knife is like no other!! Just buy it, it’s amazing. What a crazy value for $58-60!! Sharp, light, sharp, easy to open, sharp, gigantic, incredibly sharp, super high value and high quality....and sharp!! The TRI-AD lock is a bank vault, locks up secure and tight!! No blade play in any direction!! Lots and lots of gripping positions on this long handle. Lots of traction too. The blade shape is special, what a great chopper and so capable because of that crazy recurve blade. I love serrations, but you can get plain or serrated. This isn’t a novelty blade. You can use this and use it hard. It’s a good hiking/camping/yard work knife. It’s huge so you have to be careful making delicate small cuts but you totally can do it. No, this isn’t the perfect EDC blade but when carried (where legal to carry) in combo with a Swiss Army knife or spyderco delica or benchmade Mini Griptilian, you’d have a great combo of tasks covered on a hike or camping or while doing yard work. If legal to carry, I could even see a contractor or construction worker being able to put this to use at work. Jut some thoughts. Whether you can and want to EDC this or you just want to whip it out to awe your friends, it’s a very high quality, awesome, and unique gigantic blade!!!!!!!

If I was going to fight with a folder, this would be it. It's just so big...I wish it was 4.5 or 4 inches long. Also, the ergos were so-so, but I ground in a 1/2 blade choil which helps a lot and put on a "snaggletooth" and it's much better.
