Well sometimes TSA officers will have to open your baggage as part of the screening process. If your bag is unlocked, then the officer will simply open and screen the baggage if any item alarms. However, if you decide to lock your checked baggage and TSA cannot open it through other means, then the locks may have to be cut. TSA is careful to not damage any personal belongings, however, they are not liable for damage caused to locked bags that must be opened for security purposes. Sturdy and distinguishable, but zipper issue...
This was a gift for my mom. As she was preparing to use it for the first time, one of the interior zippers broke on the bigger suitcase. I am going to contact customer service to see if they can do anything. Unfortunately it happened the night before her trip and that was her only luggage so now it is used... not sure if they’ll exchange it now or not.
