The Ceratonia siliqua tree grows up to 10 meters (35 ft) tall. The crown is broad and semi-spherical, supported by a thick trunk with brown rough bark and sturdy branches. Leaves are 10 to 20 centimeters (4 to 8 in) long, alternate, pinnate, rounded, and may or may not have a terminal leaflet. It is frost-tolerant, but not super frost tolerant, like in Minnesota or Maine or Canada. Think California to Florida along the southern states, and over to Spain, Greece and Israel.
