Wisdom Motorcycle Backrest sissy bar and flat luggage rack for Harley Davidson Touring Models 1997-2008

The quality of this product is excellent, especially at this price point. It was installed on a 2005 Electra Glide Classic, after purchasing the front docking kit from Harley Davidson as correctly disclosed by the manufacturer, Wisdom Motorcycles USA. It fit perfectly and is very secure. None of the rattles or failure to tighten securely mentioned by a couple of other purchasers. I removed the springs that were provided (to keep tension on the tightening handles), and replaced them with 5/16 fiber flat washers. Tightening the sissy bar at a comfortable angle was easy, by hand, and it didn't loosen up at all in over two hundred miles of use. It locks in place very positively, with no vibrations of any kind during operation. The round knobs used to tighten the sissy bar do protrude a bit, and others have mentioned that opening the saddle bags must be done quite carefully. While a bit of care IS required, it is not a tight clearance. Not much danger of scratching the bags unless you are really slam banging them open. If this makes you nervous, or you don't care for their look, the round knobs can be easily replaced with stainless steel bolts as mentioned by another reviewer. The luggage rack that I received had a bracket welded on out of square. One five minute telephone call, and I had a replacement part delivered in two days, as well as a shipping label to return the defective part. The customer service was excellent, friendly, and prompt. I highly recommend this product. In comparison to similar products offered at Motor Company dealers, at significantly higher prices, it is a great value.

I'll agree with a lot of the reviews-Quality is generally good. Looks great. Great value for the money.The knobs for the backrest adjustment look nice, but functionally they are junk. The springs are pointless, you have to tighten it so much to get the adjustment to stay in place that the springs just get crushed. It holds better without them.Also, the knobs are so big and stick out so far that it is really tricky to open the saddlebags without scratching them on the knobs. I can't get enough clearance to open the bag unless I only lift the latch partially.I'll be replacing them with stainless bolts.Too bad, because the really do look nice.

It arrived earlier than expected, product was packaged good, product was awesome. I would recommend anyone to get this backrest. Looks great on bike. Easy installation

This thing is worth the money I paid for it. The adjustable back rest let me tilt it back to allow a little extra room behind my 5x body. The down side are the big knobs used to hold the back rest on. The are not big enough to tighten the back rest without tools to the point where it doesn't vibrate anyway. I also was not able to open my right side saddle bag (2000 FLHR) without extreme care to keep from scratching it on the knob, which has sharp, pointy notches. I replaced them with hex head bolts from the local hardware store. It would have been nice to see the bolts included with the kit as an option for install. The knobs aren't even very attractive (my opinion).

I tried to buy something that was like this elsewhere but was double the price, I was skeptical but this rack and rest fits great, quick disconnects are right on and chrome is good quality. Very happy with purchase.

This item once installed sits on the license plate bracket and it has too be moved. The handles on this item also stick out too far and your lids on your side cases will hit if you are not extremely careful. This is NOT a direct fit item without modifications.

I was taken off the "pizza box" , luggage box for easier handling just riding around, I had the quick connect for the pizza box, but wanted the back rest for the wife. Had to order the front docking station for the back rest, you would think Harley would come up with one app. for both, but then maybe not. Neither came with instructions, so if you have some mechanical knowledge it still takes some time to install. Now that I'm set up, in just minutes I can go from back rest for daily riding to luggage box for trips. Well satisfied, adjustable back rest looks and works great.

This looks great on my 2007 Harley Road King. There are no real "instructions", just basically a parts list but it's not hard to figure out. It took me about 15 minutes in my living room counting the time it took to get a few tools together. It fit right onto to my bike with no problems. My only negative remark is this: It says the docking hardware is required (sold separately and almost another $50). The fact is, if you already have the OEM docking hardware on your Harley then you do not need to buy anything else. This seat snaps right on to your existing quick disconnects. I'm in the process of returning those extra brackets now. I hope this review helps any of you looking to buy one.
