Splendid
This is dazzling love story. Two people separated from family and forced to become the best they could be, alone. There is mystery, honor, devotion, courage, discovery and lyrical writing. And there are two extraordinary protagonists: Jinan, who has lost his past by force and Viola, who believes her past life abandoned her. They discover each other and the result is a truly splendid love story.

Kidnapped by pirates, but born to be a lady
After being kidnapped by her father at the age of 9, Viola Carlyle became a notorious privateeer working the waters off the North American coastline. Seeking to return a lifelong debt to his friend, the Earl of Savege for rescuing him from slavery, Captain Jinan Seton hunts down Viola, the Earl's long lost sister-in-law. Through the weeks it takes for Jin to convince Viola to return to England with him, Jin and Viola discover an undeniable attraction to each other. But will Viola decide to return to her English family and become the lady she could have been, or will she decide to remain with the sea-faring family aboard ship she has gathered around her among the years? What about the feelings she and Jin have for each other? Can two hardened sea captains soften their hearts enough to allow love to grow between them? The character development in this book is phenomenal. Both Viola and Jinan are complex, well-rounded and compelling figures. Their stories drew me in and kept me rapt from start to finish. The pain and struggle Jinan and Viola both go through in their early childhood makes them uniquely well suited to each other, and Ashe does an excellent job of bringing both to life. This novel has plenty of action and witty banter as well to keep the plot moving along at a quick clip. Anyone who likes historical fiction will love this book.

Fab book
Viola-wild & headstrong.Born a lady, but raised on the high seas to become a lady privateer.Jin-a man with a troubled past & a secret mission.Viola & Jin- a fiery match.I was looking for something to read,to tide me over, until the books on my wish list were to be released and came across "How to be a proper lady".I don't remember being very impressed with the sample pages I read, but I thought,"Why not?", and I'm so glad I did.The book was at times sad and sweet, but it also had my heart racing with the passion between Viola and Jin.I also enjoyed the supporting cast of characters too. It was a book I hated to put down(but life does get in the way!) and I couldn't wait to get back to. Loved it!I had never read any of Ms. Ashe's books before, but there's the next book in the series already on my wish list, and I hope to read more by this author in the future.

Extremely Seaworthy
Viola and Jin are complicated characters. These seem to be the author’s specialty—multi-faceted, strong personalities who hate to admit that they’re completely in love. It makes for a very entertaining and enjoyable, if sometimes tearful, (and frustrating) read. Her secondary characters are always well-developed, I love the recurring characters (I do recommend reading them in order), and her writing flows wonderfully. There are plenty of funny moments as well. Recommended.

Proper Lady - entertaining
I thought this book to be very entertaining. I was surprised that I had, knowing the storyline and had debated whether to buy it or not. I'm glad I had. As mentioned I was pleasenatly surprised at the boy meets girl - with a different twist. I don't care to read the long reviews that rehash the entire story - especially those that give away much more of the plot than I care to know before reading a book. If you like this type of romantic historical genre, then I believe you will enjoy this book also.

Story number 2 of the series.
I really did love the character Jinan Seten. I loved the s of him, his history or life if you like! What a great story and character. The first one of this series was really good and I loved that story. This one was different from it because the others were not really in it that much. Was not sure if I would like the girl but in the end she turned out pretty good.

Great Read
Viola's and Jinan's story was full of surprises. Excellent writing, which makes you feel the pull between them, even when all other circumstances seem to be pulling them apart. You also feel her pain and confusion as she feels she is caught between two worlds, but belongs to neither. Great read.

I loved "How To Be A Proper Lady: A Falcon Club Novel"
This is the second book in Katharine Ashe's Falcon Club series. I liked this one even better than the last. The Falcon Club books are the first ones I've read by Ms. Ashe and I think they are wonderful. I am so glad that a friend suggested that I read her books and I am definitely going to read more of them.

Interesting and well written!
This novel about Jinan and Viola was full of adventure at sea and then was a good portrayal of how hard it would be to become a Lady of the "ton" when you have grown up on a ship for fifteen years - this, the second novel of the series, was more entertaining than the first novel although I don't really understand what the Falcons Club does or what Lady Justice is all about either but I admire her pluck in dealing with the Peregrine - If you like spy novels and adventure you will like this novel and series

Katharine Ashe is Awesome!
I love this book! It was well written, and the character development was really fun. It was nice to read a story more about inner conflict, verus external conflict like these stories usually are. I recommend it!
