Worth the extra money for many reasons…
First reason, would have to be the obviously answer of K&N’s great track record of manufacturing high quality, washable, reusable, lifetime filters with these home HVAC filters being no different. Second reason would have to be the washable/reusable feature of said filter. I know I already mentioned this in “R. #1” however there aren’t many companies that make reusable HVAC filters to begin with but to be made with such a quality driven method makes all the difference! And for my third, and final reason, I have to mention the fact that these filters have a MREV rating of 11! That is wild considering you’ll pay the more than the cost of this filter for MERV 5 filters for the year. I highly recommend getting this filter(s) for your home it’s definitely made a difference! P.S. I have two animals (1 dog and 1 cat) and I’ve noticed a difference in air quality.

ABSOLUTELY Perfect + update
Ordered 16x20x1....tired of spending $40/mo on filters and figured that the K&N in my car has NEVER failed me, this one, I trust, will not either. Regardless of where it's made, there are standards....I say this to you who complain about it being made in China. So, let me explain the process of 3rd party Manufacturing....Company A shops around for Manufacturing companies to make or kit/assemble their products in a cost effective manner....after all, we are all in business to make money, correct? So, multiple bids come in....companies in the US bid, and others world wide, China bids to assemble this product at $5/piece, package and ship it here free, IF contract length is minimal 5 years with a certain monetary guarantee ...let's say $250,000/yr.....US company says...we assemble your item, which you buy and ship to us, and then you pay for deliver to wherever you want it to go, and we ask for 3yr guarantee at $5/each assembly.......which one would you take ? The one where you, as the owner pay for everything, or the one more cost efficient with a higher profit margin? It says "made in China" yes, but that most likely, in this case, means that this is where it was assembled. K&N sent the quality standards and requirements to China, and per contract this must be obeyed by.....so, don't knock and dismiss it so easily, bc a Company such as K&N has a superb reputation to live up to....would they ruin it by making crappy or cheap products? NO! So, to my filter...it fit PERFECTLY...no rattle or loose edges whatsoever...they even included some screws just in case. FYI...I been in Manufacturing for 2 decades and know how the game is played, friends....I give this filter 5 stars and will update, good OR bad in 3 months ! Thanks for reading. Update 1 yr later..... Still kicking out the air....and here in the South we have some serious heat and humidity in the summer.....I bought another one as a backup to use when I clean the 1st one I bough to allow it drying time. NO COMPLAINTS and the Heating/AC unit is "breathing" excellent! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Worth buying.
Well made. Haven't needed to clean it yet. Cheaper in the long run than paper ones.

Super nice filter but beware!
I've always been a big fan of K&N and their auto filters so I was all in when I saw they had furnace filters. What I didn't realize at the time is that my furnace was too old for this. It's a single speed furnace from the 90's that's in stellar shape still. The previous owner took care of it. But I get tired of throwing away filters and would love to reduce the trash in landfills. So, I installed it and it ran great for the first month. Then, we started noticing a lot of clicking from our furnace and trouble holding a consistent temperature and figured that it might be nearing the end of our furnace's life. So, we called a company to come check it out. It turns out the filter was too restrictive for a single speed blower furnace. It was setting off the temperature regulator and constantly putting our furnace into a reset mode. It was causing temperature differences of 5 degrees and wasn't holding with any consistency. So, if you have an older non-variable speed furnace I would say you're going to have to stay away from this filter. It's too restrictive and will cause issues with your blower and innards. Learn from my extra $170 cost associated to diagnose this issue with my furnace. It's a shame as it's the best built reusable filter I've seen.

Best Investment
Literally the best investment for your HVAC system in your house! Reusable. Fit like a glove. K&N products always have the best quality. K&N is the only brand of filter we use in our autos & home.

It works
This is a pretty good furnace filter! My old unit doesn't struggle much running it, and it filters pretty well. I will say, I don't know how long it lasts- I'll update this review if something does happen in the long term, but we're going on a few months of use now and one cleaning.

ORDER THESE! You won’t be sorry!
THE ONLY FILTERS WE USE NOW! SO much better for the environment (of earth) and our home! Easy to insert, remove and to clean! Just hose it off, spray down with bleach or peroxide, and rinse. Let it dry, and it’s ready to put back in! We ordered two- one to put in while we rinse and dry the next one, so we can rotate. Perfect!

My furnace has now 10 more HP and makes that nice racetrack sound when it revs ;) More seriously, I was looking for a more environment-friendly furnace filter option and found this K&N washable filter. Works great and fits perfectly, no more disposable filters in the landfill !

I bought two of this filter so that when I exchange, I can leave the other to air dry. I would say this filter is of great quality, heavy duty and not too heavy. Easy to install and easy to clean. Make sure to follow the arrow sign on the system and turn off your furnace before inserting and removing.

I was so hopeful when I found this filter for our furnace. It was great to be able to simply take it out and wash it. Bought the K&N cleaning kit locally and used it as per instructions then reinserted the filter. I check my filters once a month without fail and this time was no exception. Unfortunately, the one layer is now “bubbling up” and I can’t make it return to its original state. Not sure if this is a material defect (where material can’t handle the warm air) or an assembly issue (not enough tension maybe) but needless to say I am no longer as pleased as I was when I first bought the product. I purchased the product last October so needless to say I no longer have the original box so not sure about returning the item. I think I will just write this one off as a “live and learn” experience. Too bad.
