Kate KlimoDog Diaries #6: Sweetie

I read this as an American Foxhound is a family member. Although it is somewhat a fictionalized story, it gave an idea of what Washington's interest was into these dogs, interwoven with American history.Yes, it is true Washington's involvement in the American Revolution was with meeting this lady who admired his dog, who in turn introduced him to her husband that was actively involved with turning against the British government.

It was a good book, but it was like reading a history book. I'm not one that likes reading history books. I think it would be great for a child that needed to do a book report on George Washington, and his dog.

The story of Sweetie and General George Washington is wonderful and lovingly told. I truly enjoyed it. You also learn a lot about foxhounds. However, I will warn readers that this book does glorify fox hunting which, in reality, is a very gruesome activity. So, be forewarned.

My son loves this series and reads every book over and over. This one is no exception. I like that these stories have him hooked on historical fiction at a young age.

This is a great series that my 3rd grade, dog loving son adores!

My picky 4th graders LOVE all of these Dog Diary books (the boys especially!), Kate Klimo can't write them fast enough!
