finally got to use it. it was fun, and efficient
I usually buy stuff like this from lee valley. i tried it cause it has two cutters and lee valley was out of stock. Also, it was about the same price. After sharpening each cutter, it cut like paper. great stuff.

Some sharp edges careful
Works great. Had a few sharp edges on the base I needed to file down. I recommend sharpening the cutters before using. I use a draw knife bench to hold the work.

Great Tenon cutter
After searching for a while to find the 'tool that cuts the end of logs into dowels' for making log furniture I came across these at a local wood working shop. First they fantastic to use, although you HAVE to use a 1/2" chuck drill because anything smaller doesn't get the torque to get it working properly. Second the blades are removable and adjustable so they can be easily sharpened and kept in line with each other to get a smooth cut. The lines on the upper part of the tenon guide make cutting to a specifc length everytime very easy. Only con is getting the cut started on something that is pushing the outside of the cutting radius can be difficult, I found that hand starting the tenon makes it much easier. So far I've built some stools, a bedframe, and a stand to hand a sky chair from and these have been fantastic. I'm looking forward to many more years of projects with these bad boys. I highly recommend the blue Roman Carbide Forstner bits to cut the holes for these. The cheaper bits definately suffer and have a harder time cutting nice smooth holes of proper size.

Instructions are wrong for the TTR0750 maybe others too.
Cuts way more aggressively then I could imagine! Blade Offset (Spacing) is Critical to getting the correct diameter and a good Tenon shape! Instructions are wrong for the TTR0750 and probably others as well. Page 5 “Tip” says “The cardboard box that the tool comes in is about 3/16””Remove a piece of the box to use as a quick spacer for blade setting”. This is incorrect. The box the tool came in was about 1/16”. This set the blade way too close and ruined the tenon. Try on scrap until you get the blade adjusted right.

Workhorse
Used this tool to cut a couple hundred tenon in hickory picketts for a playground. It work very well but the blades did drift slightly during use. I recommend a powerful corded drill and periodically checking the tenon diameter. Having a test mortise handy is a good idea to keep your results consistent. Very solidly made and easy to use. I would recommend this to anyone working on rustic furniture or construction.

it appears to be an awesome tool. Even with the right power
it appears to be an awesome tool. Even with the right power, after clamping down the twig or log, this spins and hops out of control. Its a joke. Big waste of money. Terrible design. Maybe I am retarded and am doing it all wrong. If I am then give me 5 stars for being stupid.

One cutter is better than two
This cutter is poorly made oh sure it’s a solid block of aluminum and strong but the designers forgot the most important thing on a two cutter dowel cutter both of the cutters have to be exactly in line with each other or only one cutter will touch the material. There are no markings on this cutter so how are you going to figure out where the cutters belong. It would be better to only have one cutter to do the job and more accurate at that.
