I bought the stack of Schiit- Magni and Modi Uber 2's and use Sennheiser 598's for headphones- I love those cans. So this review is for both the DAC AND amp. Do yourself a favor and get both. Don't just get the amp unless you already have a great DAC. But I digress.Was going to return them at the 20 day mark because they sounded terrible. At that point I had 40 hours burn in on them easily. Won't lie, I pick my most unfavorite Pandora station and let them play all day while I'm at work. Sennheiser includes 2 cables, 1 short one with a 3.5mm jack and a long one with a 1/4 jack. I had to change to the 1/4 jack and it must be defective because the SQ was so bad. I wanted to like the Schiit so much I purchased a Sennheiser 3mm to 1/4 adapter and went back to the short cable. Voila, I got to hear what everone was raving about. It def has a different sound than my FiiO E18, which is not a terrible DAC Amp combo, but I do like it. And it's much better in almost every category. I wish the drums where more forward like FiiO. I am also not convinced the Schiit likes those 598's all that much, it still sounds great, but I get glimpses of much better SQ.The Schiit also lets me know if I'm listening to a lower quality music source, Pandora, quite clearly- the warmth and detail just go away. So now the minimum is Spotify but mainly CD and flac. Pandora streams at 192Kbps and Spotify at 320. A lot of people claim a human being cant tell the difference but it's a matter of the equipment you are using and that's the truth. It's not a subtle difference either. It's like someone grabbed your neck with one hand and is slapping the Schiit out of you with the other.Anyway, I like this Schiit a lot and hope you will too.

This amp is fire! Not only is it a great amp that has a nice warm sound signature. It also made sure I wasn’t late to school by lighting itself on fire so I was sure to wake up. It would be five stars without the minor issue of a plume of smoke at 6 AM.Will update this once customer service emails me back.

It is a solid headphone amp. Even though the outputs suggest it can be used for speakers, please don't. It can drive my hd 650 to the point of pain. The problem frequencies it can power through.

had many preamps . tubes n solid state costing in the thousands. this is in the top three. plus has head phone input for my sennheiser 580. needed a small pre for my small room. hooked up to my bells v2 150 amp ,playing cds on the AYRE MP upgraded cd player. wow so reviling n lush tube like sound. not syrupy but detailed n spacious . bass is a little shy but plenty through my vr1s vonswichker monitors. bass is tight n smooth. not over hanging or loose. GREAT price n shipping speed. oh yeah made in the good USA.

I ordered a pair of V-Moda Crossfade M100 headphones and went to plug them into my Scarlett 6i6 interface and noticed that it sounded horrible; I thought that these low impedance headphones were not receiving enough power. Little did I know that the cable with the in-line microphone was causing the issue but I am grateful for this accident as it led me to purchasing this device. I also purchased a coil cable as well to remedy the issue.I have this amp connected to my interface from 2 TRS male to 2 RCA male cables to my amp. First impression was how clean it sounded and how powerful it was. I had the dial turned to the 9 o'clock position and was able to be immersed in my music at a very nice volume without any distortion or the device breaking a sweat. To achieve the same effect on my interface, the know would need to be turned to 2-3 o'clock and it wouldn't retain its sound.I have tested this amp with music ranging from orchestrated pieces to acoustic music to full blown metal and this amp consistently delivered. I was surprised how it maintained a neutral sound signature and didn't favor one genre over another. I have also tested this amp with audio engineering in Cubase 9 and saw negligible latency (practically none) with still a crisp sound. I also tested a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M50X headphones as well as a pair of Shure SE-215 IEMs and each pair of headphones consistently came to life with a much more enjoyable experience with this amp. Just a side note; the amp does tend to get very warm at first but over time doesn't heat up as much during usage. Be sure to turn the amp off after use.It's safe to say that after hours of research on amplifiers that the Schiit Magni 2 Uber is the right device for me and I have no regrets about this purchase. I will be buying a pair of Sennheiser HD850 headphones to use with this amp as well in the near future but already expect to be surprised. Worth every penny.
