Thinner plastic that i had hoped for..i've actually bought pretzels in sturdier, thicker plastic.
I bought these to fight the pantry moth infestation that seems to have taken over the whole area. I have thrown out countless bags of flour, pancake mix, biscuit mix ect. I tryed putting the items in large ziplock bags and still the moths got in. I read an article that said they can chew through plastic bags. I have a few plastic containers with screw on lids that they have not been able to conquer. So i thought this 4 pack of gallon sized containers would be just what i needed to store flour, sugar, confectioners sugar and brown sugar. They arrived quickly, but i am a bit disappointed in how thin the plastic is. I have a large plastic container with screw on top that pretzels came in that is bigger an seems thicker. Overall for basically five bucks a piece i guess its okay deal, but just wish they would have been more substantial.

A great choice for flour and sugar storage
The design is commercial kitchen (a cool look) and not over designed or overpriced. The jars are light weight, sturdy, clear plastic and one jar holds about 7 lbs. of granulated sugar. It's great if you want decent size storage and keep the ability to pour directly from the the jar into a bowl, etc for measuring. The opening is also large enough to use a 1/2 C measuring cup. For me it's perfect!

Lids can be difficult to put back on
These rectangular 1 gallon containers work well for storing cereal. Although they have relatively thin clear plastic walls, they seem sturdy enough, and the handle (molded indentations in the bottle) makes them easy to pick up and pour from. The opening is a bit small and it would be difficult to fit in your hand and a measuring scoop to get something out. The lid is okay, but it has only one entry point for the threads on the bottle, so that you may have to turn the lid almost 360 degrees before it starts closing -this can be awkward. There is no liner for the lid, so although the seal is good, it is not as tight as some containers - air can slowly leak out (or in).

Perfect for storing bulk foods
I'm using these for keeping pantry staples. A jar will hold 5 lbs of flour. I like that they're square so I can stack them on their sides in the cupboard as well as standing them upright on my pantry shelves. Cat food, sugar, parrot treats, etc. all store uniformly and insect-free.

Versatile container
I use these containers to keep leftover paint in. They are very sturdy and easy to hold and the lid unscrews easily.

Definitely not dishwasher safe
I planned on using these jars to store flour, rice and other staples in. The last ones I bought at Wal-Mart several years ago worked well, but I was unable to find any locally. Those were dishwasher safe, these are not.

Good for storing cereal etc.
Bought these to store oatmeal and cereals in. They work well for that. I already had some similar ones for flour and sugar. I like that they are clear and they are very tidy looking in my cupboard.

Converted to spring garden small plant starter cover.
I cut off the bottom, and drilled three holes on the lid. I placed the container over small spring garden starters and pressed the container down slightly into the damp soil to hold it in place from winds. When the sun came out the next day, I removed the lid, and replaced the lid before it became colder. It worked like a green house for special plants.
