Saved $8 and a service call on my PC
I had purchased a Dell laptop long after buying my Western Digital External USB 3.0 drive. The Dell had four USB 3 ports, two on the left side, two on the right. The WD drive would connect solidly to the left pair of ports, but on the right side pair would dismount the USB 3 drive with the slightest movement of the cable. Odd enough USB 2 connections were solid.I had thought perhaps those connectors were defective and that would require a service call and repairs, something I was not happy about after only having the laptop one month and after carefully spending days setting everything up.I decided on ordering this cable as a replacement. It seems local area stores charge a lot more for cables at half the length. But more importantly,I wanted to be sure it was not the USB 3 cable somehow being defective.I got it today and it turned out the drive cable was at fault. This cable performs flawlessly on both ports plus the 6 ft is a bonus over the old stock 2 ft. cable. Now I don't end up dragging the external drive around when moving the laptop. So that's it. $10 with taxes, and shipping, and it took care of the USB 3 connection problems and saved a possible service call or RMA. Not a bad gamble at all.

Works great for fast USB-3 Transfer rate
I connected a Western Digital Passport external hard drive via this cable to a USB3 port on my computer.(The port was on a PCI Express card I installed: SYBA Combo USB 3.0 + SATA III 6Gbps, v2.0 PCI Express, x4 Slot Controller Card Model Syba USB 3.0 2-Port and SATA 6Gbps 2-Port PCI-e x4 2.0 Card with Low Profile Bracket SD-PEX50055 in my MSI X58M motherboard.)I had no problems with the computer recognizing and communicating with the drive. Windows reported data transfer rates of 65 to 70 MB/s (which is much faster than the 25 MB/s or so that this drive delivers over a USB2 port). So this cable works as advertised: it is compatible with the Western Digital Passport drives, and does deliver true USB3 speed. It looks attractive, and seems to be well-made.I would recommend this cable to anyone who wants a more convenient way to connect Western Digital Passport drives to their computer than using the very short cable that comes with the drives.

Works beautifully with my WD Passport, and USB 3.0 is a Dream
I bought this cord because the WD Passport came with about 15 inches of cable which, with a tower PC (yes, we still like them), didn't reach and I didn't want the Passport hanging in mid air. This is 6 feet long and allows me to place the external drive darn near anywhere I want and where it's convenient for ME. I must say that downloading 100 or 1000 high res pix from my web site is just a breeze with USB 3.0. It's shockingly fast ... well when you compare it to 1.0 and 2.0. (Funny how we now think that an extra 60 seconds of download time is an eternity!)If there's one thing I don't like it's the fact that Western Digital had to save a buck by giving all of us a cable that was too short (compared with the flexibility of placement that 6 feet - 2 meters - gives you).

Very Good Quality Cable, but Think Twice about pairing with WD Passport
I bought this cable because after reading the reviews about the WD My Passport 1TB Portable External Hard Drive Storage USB 3.0 Black , I learned that there was a common defect with the stock USB 3.0 cable included with the drive. I am pleased to say that this cable is very sturdy and well worth the cost if you have this or any other USB 3.0 hard drive. The only issue I have with this cable is its size. If you're concerned about your Passport being portable, you might think twice about this cable, or try to find a smaller length (I should have known 6' would be too long). I have posted a size comparison of this cable in the 'Customer Images' section. All things considered, you will be extremely satisfied with this cable regardless of what drive you have. The connectors are strong, just know that the length and thick gauging might hamper your drive's portability.

Saved my drive
The cable is a bit thick, but it still made using my My Passport drive more convenient. The cable that came with the drive was way to short and I would continually drop my drive accidentally and disconnect the drive from my Macbook (something Mac's don't like). With the longer cord, I can now place the drive on the table and pick up the macbook w/o fear of disconnecting it. So happy I purchased it.

Looks like good overall construction
Premolded cables are hard to judge quality on as you will never see the actual construction. All we can do is judge how well the plugs fit and connect the devices we own. This cable does a good job. I have had a high failure rate on chinese cables in the past but the price is hard to resist and as long as Amazon has such a liberal return policy I will continue to go through that cycle of purchase and return until I get a good cable at a reasonable price. This cable was good out of the bag so Hooray for my luck!

Good cable
I bought this cable because I wanted to be able to distinguish USB 2 cables from USB 3 cables coming from behind the computer, so the blue color made my decision. Good since the color of the computers USB 3 ports are also blue. USB 3 is so much faster than 2 and this cable keeps everything humming along at hi-speed.
