A great pole for a great flag
My Uncle Bill was a Ranger, two time Vietnam vet, commander of award winning White House protocol unit. He passed away from (likely) Agent Orange poisoning, but left behind a flag he was proud of. The flag pole ... not so much. It was sturdy, but easily came apart. And the flag kept wrapping around itself. Finally, the flag pole gave up the ghost. This Grace Alley flag pole was the replacement, and so far has lived up to the flag. Assembling it was easy ... screw rod A into rod B. That's it. But the rods are study and well painted. I have confidence in them. The best part is the anti-tangle device. It's a single unit so that the flag's top grommet moves with the bottom grommet. This is much better than the single rotating cuffs I could buy at the hardware store. As I watch the flag move, I don't see a good way for it tangle on the pole ... great news, as our wind is a pretty steady 5-10 miles per hour. The flag pole cost a little more, but it's well worth the cost, and the flag will last longer. I think Uncle Bill would be very happy to see his flag so well mounted. And I'm happy to have one less thing to wrestle with.

I've had the flagpole about 2 weeks and it works great. We get a lot of wind and the flag never wraps around the flagpole.

Despite their ubiquity in underwear drawers across the globe, over half of women are in the wrong size. Not only does it look and feel better when you have the proper fit, it also has practical implications (ie. no back pain and, according to Oprah, age-reversing abilities). We talked to experts to get to the bottom of the issue, and how to make sure that next time you purchase lingerie, you're getting the perfect fit.Journelle-bra-on-model-lacePhoto: Courtesy of JournelleThe Cause Of Size ConfusionIf you're of average build, you've probably been told at some point in your life you're a 34B. Allison Beale, the Marketing & Brand Director at Journelle, notes that the near-universal belief that every woman fits this size is a major contributor"You'd think it's just a math equation of measurements but it's not."Marissa Vosper and Lauren Schwab, co-founders of Negative Underwear, concurâalthough 34B might be fit-model measurement of record in lingerie (similar to what a 27 is in denim), there is no industry standard for bra fit, leading to small but impactful disparities."You'd think it's just a math equation of measurements but it's notâevery brand has their own version of a 34B," Vosper and Schwab note. This rubric then of course affects the measurements of other sizes in the same line. "Sizing is proprietary to the brand, but also depends on fabricationâstretch lace versus rigid lace, cotton, etc.," Beale also notes.Courtesy of On Gossamer Courtesy of On GossamerCourtesy of Negative Underwear Courtesy of Negative UnderwearWhere To Start With SizingWith so many factors affecting the fit of bras, where's a girl to start? Though it might be an imperfect process, the natural starting point is, of course, taking your measurements. That, in addition to actually trying on a variety of stylesâwhether you purchase in-store or order onlineâis the way to find your true match."Fitting is much more of an art than a science."According to Vosper and Schwab, "Fitting is much more of an art than a science, so sometimes trial and error, with the eye and help of an expert, can ensure you walk away with a bra that fits and feels great." Aka be patientâworking in tandem with a pro and taking the time to try different things will eventually result in an informed purchase. If you prefer to fit yourself in the privacy of your own home, you can still get an accurate readâBeale explains:"Start below your arms and pull a measuring tape snugly across your chest for your band size [the numerical part of the size]. Do not squeeze! Take your second measurement around your back and the apex of your breast. This will be a larger number. Then subtract your first (smaller) measurement from the second to get your cup size. If your first measurement was 32 (your band size) and your second measurement was 36, subtracting 32 from 36 equals four or a D cupâas each inch equals a cup size, starting at A."All In The DetailsWhile the these two measurements are the key components of a size, Vosper and Schwab advise to consider other elements of fit as well:"In a well-fitting bra, the goreâthe small center piece connecting the bra cupsâshould lay flat at your sternum, and shouldn't pull or buckle. The bra band should fit snug around your ribs without riding up your back or digging into your flesh. You shouldn't be able to pull it far from your chest eitherâthe band provides the majority of support in a bra, so it should be comfortably snug. If your band is fitting well and supporting you properly, your straps shouldn't dig. Often times if a band is too loose, the back will ride up and the straps will dig in as a resultâessentially the support that should have been achieved in the band is being transferred to the straps, which is pretty uncomfortable. Ideally your underwire or cup should cover the full breadth of your breast tissue, from center chest/sternum to right under your underarm. If you have too small of a cup/wire for your frame, you'll get wires digging into flesh. Finally, you should like the shape your bra gives you with a t-shirt on (from the front and the side)."Landing The Perfect FitIf it's been a while since you made a new purchase, it's definitely time, as innovations in technical design have evolved the way bras fit the body."Historically, many women chose to wear bras that were larger than needed around the rib cage in their quest for comfort and ease. Todayâs bras are made with superior fabrics and trims that offer more fit flexibility," says Debby Gedney, President of On Gossamer. As inâyou now have a little more leeway in between sizes, so sizing up is no longer your only option.Vosper and Schwab agree: "What we've found is that most women are wearing a band size that's too big for them (or bras that are old and stretched out). That said, when you adjust your size down from a band perspective, you often need to size up in the cups to account for shifting proportions (e.g., from a 34B to a 32C, or a 36C to a 34D)."Finally, embrace the journey; as with many things, it's unlikely you'll get it right the very first time."During your fitting, don't get too hung up on your measured size. At best, this is your absolute size; at worst a starting point for you to begin your bra trying-on journey," says Beale.Do all of the above and maybe, just maybe, the notion of ill-fitting lingerie will one day be unknown to us women (and ahem, our "girls").Marquee image: Courtesy of On GossamerPRETTY LITTLE UNDERTHINGSJournelle Juliette Demi BraJuliette Demi BraJournelle, $68On Gossamer Mesh Bump-It-Up BraMesh Bump-It-Up BraOn Gossamer, $46Negative Sieve Non-Wired BraSieve Non-Wired BraNegative Underwear, $55Morgan Lane Dauphine Eloise BraDauphine Eloise BraMorgan Lane, $198On Gossamer Mesh Convertible T-Shirt BraMesh Convertible T-Shirt BraOn Gossamer, $42Journelle Victoire Plunge BraVictoire Plunge BraJournelle, $58Cosabella BodysuitNever Say Never Racerback BraCosabella, $55victorias secret leopard lace braLeopard Lace Flirt Demi BraVictoria's Secret, $60î§SHAREî¤PINîTWEETADD OR VIEW COMMENTSPUBLISHEDApril 9, 2016DESIGNERSJournelle / Negative Underwear / On GossamerTRENDSExpert Tips / LingerieBox-of-style-leadNEXTUPMarch 30, 2016A Season Of Chic: The 411 On The Box Of StyleRELATED STORIESAcne At Every AgeMay 14, 2016How To Cope With Acne At Every AgeExpert tips for beating breakouts once and for all.How To Look Good In PhotosMay 11, 2016How To Look Good In Every PhotoLearn the tricks from our experts.Eyebrow Mistakes You're MakingApril 15, 20167 Ways You're Ruining Your EyebrowsAnd how to correct them!hairstyles-for-curly-natural-hair-african-americanApril 1, 2016Expert Tips For Getting Gorgeous Natural HairBeyonceâs hairstylist spills her best secrets.Chanel Metallic MakeupMarch 28, 2016The Chanel-Approved Beauty Trend You Should Rock This SpringShimmer your way through spring.Backstage at AltuzarraMarch 24, 2016What To Do In Between Your Eyebrow AppointmentsSo your arches are on fleek 24/7.EDITOR'S PICKSSummer DenimHow To Style Summer's Hottest Denim TrendsKate MiddletonKate Middleton Just Wore Her Trendiest Look YetHow To get Perfect Beach Waves OUAIThe Genius Hack For Perfect Beach WavesIt Bag Of Summer Chiara FerragniThis Is The It Bag Of SummerSummer Beauty Swaps10 Beauty Product Swaps To Make For SummerFROM OUR FRIENDSKendall Jenner Transformed Her Bra Into a Going-Out Top -POPSUGAR FASHIONTurning Back TimeTHE CHRISELLE FACTORThe New Artist Cement Collection from Cle TilesREMODELISTAThe Feathery Lash | The Violet FilesVIOLET GREYpowered by PubExchangeFOLLOW US:î§îîî¤î Sign Up for a Daily Dose of Glamour:EmailSIGN UPABOUTTERMSPRIVACY POLICYEDITORIAL POLICYEDIT PREFERENCESBest Flagpole

I ended up reading pretty much every review on all spinning flag pole items ...
I ended up reading pretty much every review on all spinning flag pole items available on Amazon. Let me just save you the time, indecisiveness, and confusion that I wasted and say...just get this pole. :-b It seemed like each item had its flaws, and it was driving me batty trying to decide on "the perfect one". I came to the conclusion that they're all mostly the same, just different brands/manufacturers. If you're looking for a spinning flag pole that functions as it claims, looks nice, doesn't rust, and is as sturdy as you can get in a metal wall flag pole, this is the right choice. There's only so much you can protect an outside flag pole from. There isn't one that's going to be 100% indestructible by the climate, so don't end up like me and frustrate yourself trying to find one that is. ;)My last pole (and bracket) was one of those "flag kits" you can get at the popular, local hardware store... and it lasted maybe 24 hours on a windy day. So, I have that to compare to, and this flag pole is faaaaar sturdier, thicker, and nicer. And sure, it may cost more than some "full kits", but most quality items do cost more, right? :)The pole was packaged very nicely and neatly, and arrived as scheduled. It's very simple to put together. There are clips for your flag - and I was worried it would make noise and bother my neighbors and I'd have to replace them with something softer, but it's really not audible to me at all.Haven't had a storm in the area since this flag pole was put up, so I'll update this review after one of our "fun" storms. :)If you're looking for a high quality and tough bracket for this pole (it doesn't come with a bracket), this is what I got - and am very pleased with it so far. Mine was installed on a brick/stone exterior, and yes it takes time and effort to drill the holes for it when you're doing it on brick, but it seems like this bracket should stay put through a lot of nasty weather. I might be able to swing off of it, it's so sturdy. ;) We got special screws for it though (TapCon), and didn't use what it came with, since we had to drill through brick. The TapCon screws allow you to not have to use plastic anchors when you're needing something solid for brick/stone/concrete.https://www.amazon.com/Weather-Resistant-Displays-Aluminum-Flags/dp/B00KMUYWLQ/ref=sr_1_4?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1500482311&sr=1-4&keywords=Heavy+Duty+Flag+HolderEdited to add: We had a storm last night with wind gusts between 40-60mph - and the flag pole stood up to it all like a champ!
