French Girl Knits Accessories: Modern Designs for a Beautiful Life

Book has some excellent designs. Pages are stuck together throughout although the book was stated to be in very good condition so it didn’t meet my expectation. I will work around it to see the patterns.

French Girl Knits Accessories is a collection of knitting patterns. This is a follow on from French Girl Knits, but includes only accessories, such as hats, shawls, scarves, gloves, mittens, socks, and slippers. There are 16 small knitting projects at intermediate-level, showing the pattern and the finished product.There are some nice, wearable styles, which are nicely presented with short vignettes about the author’s inspiration for each pattern (sometimes weird and annoying, and sometimes interesting).However, the instructions are complicated—as an experienced knitter, I would adapt the patterns to my own style. This is not for beginner knitters, even though these are accessories. There are illustrations of knitting techniques, as a reminder for intermediate knitters, or to introduce some new techniques. Overall, it’s more of an online reference book, and a knitting pattern book for times of careful concentration rather than a quick knit.

I love this book and the adventure through France on which it takes you. I will probably knit a majority of the patterns, and that makes the buy a success for me. However, the book is not bound in the correct order (the glossary appears in the middle of a pattern and before the last 2 patterns), so if that kind of thing bothers you (as it does me), I'd wait for a corrected printing. **Update: I got a perfect copy resent from the publisher, and it seems the problem affected very few copies, so I'd recommend buying this book in a heartbeat.

The book is nice, I'm glad I have it, but the designs are a little more labor intensive than what I wanted for right now. I do most of my knitting for my grade school granddaughters and the styles are not for them. However, they will be great for future projects as the girls mature!

The thing that I love from this book is that not only you'll get some interesting knitting project to realize, but also some 'story' about French tradition. Cute!

A lovely book with a wide variety of projects and a good variety in complexity in projects. I've made a couple of things so far, like with most knitting books I would recommend looking to see if there is an errata available before getting to0 far along in any project.

I really looked forward to making several of the projects in the book. However I've made a few, and have had to adjust the yarn and needles to make the patterns work - they were too large. I knit on the tight side, and I thought I had a close match, but... The author must have used an even thinner yarn.

It's a wonderful book, full of inspirational patterns, and rarely for me, I intend to knit every one so it's good value! The book contains lots of beautiful, atmospheric photos and clear instructions; the standard is intermediate (and plus) I think. It is American though, so it may not be easy/possible to find the exact yarns specified in the UK. I am a knitter with many years' experience but most of these patterns require particular skills or concentration. They aren't "knit and watch TV" jobs. If you look inside and like the flavour of what you see, then don't hesitate. Even if you don't actually decide to knit the patterns, it's a lovely coffee table book for knitting addicts!

This book is lovely with some very wearable accessories, and has the chic one expects from French patterns, even though it's written by an American. Some of the terms used take a bit of puzzling out, but once that's sorted, no problem.
