Perfect Root Chakra bowl 6"
First off putting anything less than 4 stars is silly. You have to remember these bowls are being machine made and will have slight manufacturer imperfections. Luckily, the bowl is metal and the stick is wood. This means you can easily modify them to remove the imperfections. As you will see in my picture I have modified it and you can see the metal under the black residue. When you first strike it and drag it around the rim you can notice a grainy sound of the wood grain that may FEEL smooth but it's not likely smooth enough. The rim could even have things to make it rough. That's when you get a thick paper towel out and rub it down and remove all of the stuff on it. If you got it for looks don't change anything. But my review is for those who actually want to use it. No matter what size your bowl is this portion applies. If your mallet comes with felt on it already good for you. It will probably be fine. If not like mine is just wood. That's fine too. Pick which side you want to use on the bowl and get some sand paper and sand it down. The smoother the better so a super fine grain would be good. Feel free to use the same sandpaper on the rim as well to smooth out all of the black stuff. If it's not strong enough get a rougher grain paper. I myself used my jewelry metal sanding things. You can use them on the wood also but the sand paper is less time consuming. Now sand it down... When you use the bowl it will ring forever if you sit it on a surface or in your hands with it centered in your palm without nothing but your palm touching the bowl. Make your hand very flat. Make sure the table, floor or hand is only touching the bottom. Sand sand sand them both till they're very smooth... Don't put water on it to clean it! Use olive oil to clean them... slather it on then wipe it off with paper towels. Much like how you would care for an iron skillet. The gray and orange dirt particles will come off. Once the mallet and rim of the bowl are smooth enough they will sing... If you want to add color to the decorative grooves you can use wite out for white or acrylic paint for any other color. Just wipe it off before it dries without wiping inside the groove just on top. Also different things can speed up oxidation to make it look more black again. Usually bleach can do it. I haven't tried to and I don't care. Either way it can be made black again. Any imperfections in your mallet can be sanded out. I got the 6" bowl hoping it to be the Root Chakra. It is. The bowl consistently plays D 5. If you would like the bowl to vibrate at a lower note just add bits of water inside to make it get lower. The less water the slower it will vibrate and the sound will be lower. If you're anything like me you can make it sing so loud that it will vibrate till it will force the mallet to bounce off of the bowl. That's when velvet or felt can help.If you're looking for a note higher than D5 I suggest a smaller bowl. That's probably what I am gonna get next. If you want the bowls to sing a certain pitch with water etc or just know what yours is singing get an app that tells you the note it hears. Usually vocal trainers do it. You can use them to add or remove water to reach the desired pitch. I recommend adding a layer of olive oil before adding water. If the oil is removed use olive oil to keep it from rusting. If there is rust just oil it and wipe it off. Now that I have the bowl I can say there is really no reason to leave a bad review. It is a metal bowl and wood mallet and if need be alter it to make it sing. If you can't get yours to sing it's not the bowls fault. Honestly I can get any bowl made from any material other than plastic or silicone to ring. If you want it to be this awesome bowl I suggest buying something more expensive. For the price this bowl is awesome. If it won't sing you're doing it wrong. However, I would like to add that when I altered this bowl it was only the 2nd time using one. Go watch a YouTube video and enlighten yourself before leaving a bad review. I am hoping to add a video. If you play it and get a voice trainer app you will see it say it's D5.

Great bowl, okay mallet...
The bowl itself is very nice and gives off a beautiful tone. It is substantial in size (the base fills the palm of my hand), and it continues to give off a soothing resonant tone for several seconds after you are done playing. I took one star off as the resting pad (while pretty) feels flimsy & kind of cheap, and the mallet is not as high quality as the one I have for my other singing bowl (that mallet REALLY makes this bowl sing, while this mallet does NOT make the other bowl sing). Additionally, the bowl arrived with a few cosmetic scratches, though this didn't affect my overall satisfaction. Great purchase, overall, but you may consider adding another mallet to your cart if you purchase...

Singing bowl that missed the singing bowl class!
Ok so I got my singing bowl today before the time I expected? Great job Amazon! Now thw product? I think somebody should have told this bowl It's a SINGING BOWL!: this bowl missed that class. it doe not sing at all. It has a nice gong to it but it will not sing. When I first unboxed it I thought it was wood. Then I tapped it with the stick that came with it, it sounded good until I tryed to play. All I could hear was the wood scapping the top of the bowl? Then i wrapped the wood with a piece of velet and guess what?..... the bowl still refuse to sing. I think they have to do something about these bowls that don't go to singing school. Please send these cheap bowls to singing school before you send them out to people. Junk! At lease mine is. If I could give this junk a 0 rating I would. I am highly disappointed... ok update I was the singing teacher. I wrapped the stick with some leather... and mikey she could sing so ill up grade my one star to 3 stars.

Love, love this!!
I got this for my daughter’s birthday. The sound quality is amazing! It’s lighter than I expected which is nice. It also came a week before it was supposed to. I’ve very pleased with this company and definitely will order from them again.

Easy to sing and get loud but love it
The media could not be loaded. Beautiful singing bowl. It sings easily with the mallet that came with. The cushion was not the same in the picture but it was not really big deal for me. 8” gets really loud and it scared my dog away. Over All it was a good purchase. Thank you!

Beautiful sound.
I hesitated trying to purchase a singing bowl online without being able to hear it play. I was thrilled when this one sounded perfect. I used it in my Reiki share tonight, and the sound quality was exactly what I had hoped for.I actually purchased both the 8" & the 6". Both sing b ew beautifully.

Color not like in photo
Beautiful tone. Easy to make sing. However, the color is nothing like the photo. The middle band around the outside is faded like the finish had been sanded down. It's more gray than black. Definitely no purple anywhere. I bought a felted striker for a softer sound to replace the one it came with. Highly recommend a felted striker to improve the sound quality. Despite my disappointment in the lack of purple, I love the sound.

Disappointing - pretty but poor tonal quality
The device looks exactly like the picture posted. However, it falls far short of 'meditation grade' whatever that is. Presumably one could meditate with any 'grade' given the nature of meditation. That said, this device has a number of manufacturing burrs which result in very unpleasant tone production. If you only want it for the looks, you will be pleased. Look elsewhere for a musical device. Kind Regards, Eric
