Very important data here. Great workout. The so called "certified trainers" knocking this material are simply ignorant and perhaps feel threatened by it. They are completely out of their league.

If you hate to exercise, this is a great choice
This is a great book if you are adverse to the E word. (Exercise)!!! I must build up the strength of my muscles per my physician. It was this physician who recommended this book!! She herself has followed Dr D's routine as said she has seen results after 5 weeks.Here is the best reason to get the book: it is a fifteen minute workout twice a week, with two days between the workout. You do need exercise bands with varying tension, and you can find a gazillion of choices on amazon at a variety of prices. He is an expert in exercise, when you read what he has done in his life you will be impressed. What really grabbed me was his goal in developing this workout, the importance of it being safe , so he worked with nursing home patients on a safe and effective way to strengthen muscles!!!!!That is from someone who hates exercise, this is fast, not complicated and it works !! Good luck. ( ordinarily I would never tell my age but it may help a hesitant exercise hater, I'm 62).

Fifteen Minutes Twice a Week. #truestory
I read the book cover to cover. The metabolic makeover is explained by Dr. Ben in very comprehensible language. I couldn't wait to read about a plan where I didn't have to live at the gym, workout every day, sweat my way to health and happiness. While reading the book, I felt as if Dr. Ben was talking to me and guiding me through every step. Dr. Ben shares his life's work in this book with a balance of scientific research, years of experience and a touch of humor. Im well into this plan and I use the book for reference every day. I love the charts that help count the carbs and also the sample meal plans. This is not a diet, it is a way of life. It is something I can live with. I am approaching 60 and I have tried numerous other program. No other program shows results as quickly as Dr. Ben's. I feel great and I've cut down HOURS at the gym with no guilt! I've gained back valuable time to do other things like just walking for enjoyment. Great read. Great program. I would recommend it highly to anyone looking for a health plan that is easy to follow and t shows immediate results!

Changed my life
After two back-to-back cancer surgeries I gained a lot of weight—and high blood pressure— during the recuperative phase from inactivity. I healed and got back into my traditional weight lifting routine, but it just wasn't working. I felt sluggish and fat. Then I discovered Dr. Ben's program—two 15 minute slow, high-intensity strength training workouts combined with a controlled carb diet. Within five weeks I was in the best shape of my life and my blood pressure dropped to normal and I had renewed energy. A lifelong athlete, I wish I had discovered the SMaRT system in my youth. As we all know, it's easy to pack on the pounds as we get older and takes more time and effort to lose them, but not with this program. I spend less than half the time in the gym and eat to my heart's content. Best workout there is for the over 50 set.
About five years ago I started following Vinnie Tortorich's No Sugar No Grains advice which is basically a low carb diet. I lost about 25 pounds which brought me down to my suggested BMI. Vinnie had Dr. Ben on his podcast a couple of years ago. They have very similar views on nutrition and I was intrigued by Dr. Ben's 15 minute workout routine. I watched his web videos and bought this book. It has been life changing. I'm 62 years old. I've routinely hit the gym before work for about an hour since I was in my 20's. For most of that time I have suffered from sometimes chronic back and shoulder pain. After two years of following this book, my back and shoulder pain is gone! I have a better physique than I had in my 20's and I feel amazing. I would especially recommend this book to anyone, but especially older individuals. It's the best workout out there for building muscle and healthy joints for older people. Thanks Dr. Ben!

It's taking me a bit longer than 15 minutes, but I love it
Dr. Ben's story is very interesting. His advice with eating I've been following for several years, and after listening him being interviewed on a Podcast I thought I'd grab his book and learn about his exercise program. The program involves three situations, exercise in a gym, exercise with rubber straps, and exercise with a Total Gym. For my needs, I use his workout program for the Totally Gym, and I'm going through the program twice a week as suggested. I can see steady progress in my routines, and look forward to the results I should get when I'm many months into it. In the first month I'm noticing I'm getting stronger, but since I've only been doing this for about a month, I can't see how far I'll be able to take it. Still, I find the routines challenging and interesting so I'm motivated to keep at it. Thanks Dr. Ben.

Dr. Ben Knows What he is talking about.
This book has changed the way I was eating. All I have been told all my life is "fat" is bad for you, and count calories. This has never worked on a sustained basis. Cutting carbs and watching sugar works. I lost 18# in 3 months by cutting back on the carbs and sugar. Fats and red meat aren't so bad. You need some this. Just don't go wild. I also use the program "Trigger Point" which is hi-intensity training once a week for 20 min. I feel stronger, and my weight is going down. Not easy, because almost everything I like has carbs and/or sugar. I am 69 years old, so losing weight is not fun, but needs to be done. I wish I would have had this information years ago. This is a very good book, and his great illustrations.

Super read. Concepts explained in simple words. Must read if you want to change how you workout in the gym

Excellent Book
This book will be underrated due to its name, but it is true and well worth reading and implementing. I feel better even after one week of doing stretches and exercises

SMaRT really gives results twice a week for 15 minutes
This is the one book which has motivated me to start exercising at the age of 63. And at EVERY session, I can see improvement. Dr Ben's slow maximum resistance training routine works - and it really only takes 15 minutes.
