Southwire FISH TAPE, 1/8" STEEL 65'

Got this as a cheap temp because my 250ft walked away on a job. I eventually got another 250ft. But I find myself always reaching for this. I never really realized how many of my pulls were less than 50 feet till having this for a few months. Its lightweight and unencumbered, I can actually clip it to my tool belt, unhindered.My whole career the 125ft+ spool was the standard(still is actually). I thought these small spools were toys for home owners. How wrong I was.

Worst thing I have ever bought on Amazon. Quality was pitiful. Took 15 minutes to get 10 feet out. It is totally unusable. Returned it within hours of receiving. This company will not get my business again.

As you can see from the picture, it came unspooled the first time I used it. It felt unusually difficult to feed out more line, and I soon found out why, and the item bulged and side seams opened up. I contacted their customer support, but never heard back!

Needed to run an ethernet cable down the inside of the wall, and nothing I had worked. I even had some fiberglass rods that just weren't able to get down inside the wall far enough. Not that they weren't long enough, but they didn't have the flexibility nor sturdiness to get to the intended destination. This tape spool was perfect, I was done with the project in under 10 minutes whereas it took me a good hour with the rods to determine they weren't suitable. I got the 65' version so that I could make some long under-house runs later, I really didn't need more than 10' for the wall project.

I received this jammed. It was surely a mission to un-jam/pull / make work. It does work, 50/50 if it’s worth keeping. Maybe I got a dud, maybe it needs to be worked/broken in 🤷🏼‍♂️. I other fish tapes I have used are also 50/50. I bought this to replace my old Klein tools that started to become a pain to use. It is excellently priced where I wouldn’t be to upset if it walked off the worksite. I do like how it has ft markers at each foot. The bent tip/connection point, I will have to get used to. C+ 50/50 if I would recommend to a friend.

I used this for two hdmi cable pulls through pre installed paths. I’m not a contractor and never did this before and both pulls were successful. Though I was able to get the job done this item is a classic you get what you pay for. It was VERY difficult to unravel and I was constantly having to ravel and unravel to get the amount of line I wanted as the line kept getting off the track. I would not recommend this if you’re going to be performing cable pulls on an ongoing basis but if you’re like me and just needed to do a couple of easy pulls and wanted a cheaper do it yourself alternative to a professional it will do the job for you.

Good luck unraveling this thing more than 5 or 6 feet... and good luck getting that 5 or 6 feet back into the spool. Out of curiosity I did still pop this behind the wall to see if I could get it down the right track and it immediately kinked hard as soon as it hit a stud. I'd say not worth it...

I have several greenlee fish tapes(25ft, 75ft) that I have been using for over 15 years and I needed a longer tape for a 100 ft run so I thought I would give this southwire fish tape a try. What a mistake, about 25ft into my run the coiled tape was escaping from the all edges of the reel. I was able to complete the job but had no chance of pulling the unreeled fish tape back. Complete waste of money, made the job 10x harder then it should have.

Compre esta guía para reemplazar a una marca argos; cuando llego me di cuenta de varias cosas:1. La imagen es diferente al producto (ver imagen anexa).2. El dobles de la punta para enganchar el cable es excesivamente grande para la tubería de 1/2 in que se usa normalmente en instalaciones residenciales. La puedo desdoblar, pero corro el riesgo de debilitar la guia y que se rompa en el momento que mas la necesitas.3. Es excesivamente difícil sacar la guía y al tratar de hacerlo suena por dentro como si algo crujiera. La manera que he visto que funciona es jalar el extremo de la guía enganchándola en un reja o algo de apoyo.4. la manijaFuera de eso la construcción de la carcasa se ve bien y la manija no se ve tan delicada como la argos. El grosor y material de la guía es igual al que tenia la de marca argos pero viene con la distancia grabada en la guía lo que la hace muy conveniente para calcular el largo del cable que vas a meter.

Bought to run ether net cable through walls, i received it and unwound about 180cm crunching noise and it became impossible to unwind further, was sent a replacement, this time it unwound 90cm and crunch.Don't waste your money on this product the fact that both of the ones i received were defective means quality control is non-existant

I looked at some 1 stars before buying. Their correct. This snake doesnt extend very far without jamming up completely. Avoid!

This snake did the job, It is nice and small About the diameter of a small dinner plate, and fits in my tool box easily.

Seems to be good quality and cheaper than going to a big box store.
