Primera Technology 53332 Tri-Color Ink Cartridge for Original Bravo SE, Magenta

Works as it should.

I see a good deal of ranting going on in the reviews of this cartridge and its printer. I have years of experience with Primera printers and I've been very impressed with them. I've had the Bravo SE for about a year and a half and tonight its cartridge finally ran out. Clearly, I'm not a heavy user. Before getting this printer, we had two models of Primera printers at my work and we all just made a point of not doing full-coverage or single color printing. Sure, when you want that edge-to-edge look, you can get it, but it's going to cost you dearly in terms of cost per disc. So, with a little creativity, you can achieve a very professional looking printed DVD at a nominal cost of maybe 20 to 30-cents/disc. That's not bad. During my 18 months of using this single cartridge, I'd estimate I printed 800 discs. Most have been light-coverage but have looked great. Perhaps 20 were multi-color, full-coverage discs. So, with a little forethought, you can get lots of mileage out of these cartridges. As for the printer, I'm a huge fan. It just does its job and does so consistently and reliably. So, take if from a regular user of the Bravo SE printer, this is a gem of a machine and the expensive cartridges are worth every penny -- IF you plan ahead and take advantage of the more-sparing use of colors during your label design process. Full-coverage printing is overrated in my opinion. Make use of the white real estate on those printable DVDs (I use Verbatim 95079 4.7 GB up to 16x DataLifePlusWhite Inkjet PrintableHub) and have some fun! It's rather amazing that one can achieve such a professional looking result with the help of printers like this. (And, no, I don't have a stake in the company. I'm just a regular guy like you who appreciates a great product when he sees one.)

I have used several of these cartridges without any problems (using Primera Bravo). We print on a wide variety of media and have found this to be a dependable product. Not all of our printing requires full coverage of the disc so we are getting about an average of 300 disc per cartridge - so about 15 cents per disc. On full coverage we may get 200 disc per cartrige depending on the color variety (ex: if you are printing full covered solid green disc you may run out sooner than if there is a mix of colors being printed).When printing on white disc, we optimize for speed in the printer dialogue (SureThing sftwr) and use a disk with a smoother finish so the colors "pop". When using silver disk we have to optimize for quality and it seems to use a little more ink, but it looks great. And yes - the disc surface makes a difference!!! Hard to beat Taiyo Yuden, but we have most recently been using MediaSafe and had great success - both printing and duplication.We hope we continue to receive the same quality service and product - just ordered 2 more. I think these cartridges are grossly over priced but aside from that, the cartridge works well. Never had problem with one. They don't clog or dry out.

The 53332 Bravo SE Color Ink Cartriidge works with the Primera Bravo SE Disk Duplicating System and works well. There are a few things you can do to increase the yield on the cartridges. As with most InkJet and/or Laser Printers the printer software generally overestimates the ink usage and the software will tell you it is out of ink or will simply quit working often times well before the cartridge is actually out of ink.Some people, here complain about actually running out of ink. but if you read their reviews carefully you will often find that they are using full coverage of a single color. This will run that color dry very quickly and because this is a multi-color single cartridge your yield drops significantly. This is not a fault with the machine or the cartridge, this is a problem with the user having chosen the wrong tool for his job. If you intend to utilize full coverage of single colors, then you should carefully shop and find a Disk/Duplicator Printer that uses multiple ink cartridges for each color. This way you simply replace the cartridge that runs out and you will be much happier.If you are using a Printer like this one, where all the colors and black are in a single cartridge then you need to plan your jobs so that you use relatively equal parts of the different colored inks. You can still print a single full coverage color but make sure it is a shade that uses multiple colors in fairly equal quantities to be produced. Or Print some disks with a density of one color and others with a density of another and you will get better yields overall.Again, my experience has been different. I utilize limited coverage and am judicious in my use of color, so that the cartridges produce hundreds of disks. However, the Printer software assumes a higher coverage ratio and therefore shows the ink cartridge as being out long before it actually is and will actually eventually prevent the Duplicator from working when it decides you are really, really out - even though you are not.Fortunately there is a solution for this that can be found on the Primera Support Knowledgebase on Primera's website. I applaud Primera for including the information as many mainstream printer manufacturers have similar issues but will not only, not tell you how to adjust their software or driver setup, but in fact often threaten you with Warranty loss and other things even if you find the information from third party sites. (HP, Epson you know who I am talking to/about.) Under Primera's Knowledgebase in their FAQ's find Article ID: 148283 titled "At what point does the BravoPro, XRP or SE warn for low ink? Can the warning points be adjusted?"There you will find a clear explanation of the issue and a set of suggestions for fixing it. By the way, for those who do heavier coverage than the software assumes you can also adjust the same settings discussed there in the opposite direction recommended and it will more accurately track your usage as well and you will not be surprised when you run out of ink.If you search their knowledge base for "Job Stop on Ink Cartridge Low" the third item is a link to the page to which I am referring. (Note that users who are nervous about editing drivers or do not know how to search their system files to find the correct drivers may want to get a more knowledgeable friend to help them. In particular you will almost certainly have to change some system file attributes and/or system directory attributes to allow you to modify the file as instructed.)But again I applaud Primera for being straightforward about what is a common issue. And again many Printer manufacturers would say they are protecting users from themselves or assuring quality printing when they deny you the ability to make the same changes in their drivers and/or firmware. But isn't it amazing how it works out to sell more OEM Printer Cartridges when they don't let the user make changes that actually try to maximize their cartridge yield.

Work well I use these a lot. I print a lot of CDs. Usually around 150 to 200 at a time.

We used these for our CD printer they always worked perfectly and were not as pricey.

We've been very pleased with the Bravo CD reproduction system for our low-volume needs. The images are crisp and bright, even at low quality settings, and the ink cartridge usually lasts us about a year at standard usage.
