The Original Premium Wooden Toaster Tongs (Walnut)

I had a shorter version of these tongs that lasted many years, but I mishandled it and it broke. After visiting a couple of kitchen gadget shops all I could find were tongs (many) that were too clumsy (thick) to fit into a toaster and still have room to maneuver or even open wide enough to grab the toast. I knew I had to replace the thin bladed one I broke. Amazon to the rescue.These are a couple of inches longer than they need to be, but at least they work! While the length of these might be helpful if you were trying to remove some crust of bread that got lodged at the bottom of your toaster, a simpler solution in those rare cases is to simply shake it out over the sink, or remove it from the bottom if there is an access. My issues with the length are: it will be easier for them to break due to increased leverage; and counter and drawer space is at a premium. If you have a convenient place to attach it (I don't, due to the length) the built-in magnet is very strong.

Excited to have these. They are larger than the bambu pair we used to have (until my husband man-handled them) but they are elegant. Nice and thin in the area that needs to floss down in and grab the toast. I remarked on the interesting metal detail in the "hinge" area and thought maybe it was functional to the pinching action til my 8-year-old went around hanging them on every magnetic surface in the kitchen. Leave it to the child, lol. So it IS a thoutful and functional (ie handy) detail but not integral to the tong action. Love, love, love to patronize businesses that manufacture in the USA.

This is the second time I have ordered these tongs. The first time I used them in our kitchen and I have loved them. They are low profile stick to the toaster or side of the fridge. I ordered them this time for the house at the beach. This is one of the best kitchen products I have ordered in a long time. I highly recommend them.

These tongs are a thing of beauty! I retrieved them from the mailbox this morning just in time to pluck my toast from the toaster. I cannot imagine how they make them from one piece of wood. They are light and grabbed the toast like a charm. Although light, they appear sturdy and the magnet makes a proper snap when I put them on the refrigerator. I am confident they will not break and I will buy them for gifts.

This one piece longer structure allows flex with durability. Not stiff like the shorter tongs and one solid piece of hickory allows easier gripping. Note:Hickory is baseball bat wood! The magnet is just right to hold the tongs on the stove hood. I used cutting board conditioner/oil on the tongs to clean and protect the wood, no need for water. My immediate favorite, feels like an heirloom.

So to reach toast at the back and to actually close the tongs enough to GRAB toast... it is pretty hard. You need to clutch it toward the middle.. which can have your had well inside the toaster oven.

Use these this every morning for my English muffin. Got a new toaster & couldn’t get my toast without burning my fingers - Tongs work great! Best part: magnet on it so tongs rest On side of toaster - out of the way. So clever - No need to search the drawer for it. Yes you need this little convenience - start your day off right and chuckle with me - on the genius who invented this ( because of the magnet it is genius!!)
