Little gems that demonstrate Schubert's unique musical styles
I heard the Noble Waltz D-969 on the radio and immediately fell in love. Schubert is a master of piano. His writing is unique. Underneath the surface, there's so much emotion and thoughts. It's so inspiring. Of course, the impromptus are very well known, and so are some of his sonatas (the last one D960 is sad but beautiful). He inspired many great composers to come. Many of whom had translated his works. Take a look at Soirées de Vienne Valse-Caprice No. 6 by Liszt, which used Schubert D-969's #9 and #10 as theme. Fantastic music! The dances are short miniature. They are quite easy to play technically. Advanced students can sight-read them. They are musical and expound many different sounds and ideas. Are they the best of Schubert's works? No, but that's not a fair question cause IMO he used them to explore musical ideas and experiments with sounds and harmonies. This is a very nice collections of the dances. As usual, Dover Publication gives you a lot of value of your money. I have the other two volumes (Short Works and Sonatas, which I treasure). It's inexpensive and the pages are clean and very readable. I highly recommend to get this if you are a fan of Schubert.

Beautiful, Melodic Pieces for Sight-Reading
Upon receiving this volume I felt as though I had stumbled upon a treasure trove. So many wonderful, short pieces. When you only have a few minutes and want to play something and can't decide what,, randomly open this book and select a song and sight-read it. Do it once and you'll come back to this book time and time again. A real bargain!

Schubert’s Dances for solo Piano.
The Dover edition is true to the old Hartel and Brietkopf version. In this sense , it is equivalent to Urtext edition. There are 360 dances to choose from for easy reading ! It is. Great collection for any pianist. They are catchy pieces.

Good Introduction To Schubert
Schubert wrote a great deal of dance music. Waltzes, Landler, German Folk Dances of all types. Many of them are suitable for piano students as recital pieces or for sight reading practice. But for anyone wanting to get more acquainted with Schubert's piano compositions, the Dances are an excellent introduction. Although some of these pieces are quite simple, Schubert's mastery of harmony and melody make them very enjoyable to play. There is a whole lot of music in this volume for a very reasonable price. Printing is clear, if a little small. But the book lies flat on the piano. There are no fingerings.Recommended!

Nearly all the Good Dances you can find elsewhere.
Print is small. But excellent oversized book. The problem is, many of the ones I like I already have. Overall Good book. Worth 3.8 stars.

Large collection for very modest price
Beautiful piano music of only moderate difficulty. Perfect for building performance repertoire or for sight-reading practice for advanced players.

Dances for piano by Franz Schubert that you and your listeners will love.
Franz Schubert is known today for his symphonies, chamber music, piano sonatas, and of course the enormous amount of lieder that he wrote. This is a book of short dances for piano by Schubert that an intermediate level pianist would be able to play. These pieces make great light classical background music at a gathering of family and friends, good music to play for seniors in senior’s homes, and catchy pieces that can be included as part of a piano recitals. If you are a fan of Schubert’s music this will not disappoint. If you are a classically trained pianist that is asked to play for an event (and you don’t know any jazz or pop tunes), these pieces should solve that issue of what to play should you have an opportunity to play for an informal gathering.
