Rochelle Anglo Concertina, Quality Italian Accordion Reeds, Sqeeze Box

The Rochelle Anglo Concertina sounds great. It's a real instrument with great timbre. I tried a lower-priced 20-button Anglo concertina with more attractive finishes; but the quality of that instrument, in terms of producing beautiful sound, was nothing compared to this instrument. This concertina is not especially pretty. The bellows are covered with quality black tape, but black tape. Only time will tell how this wears. I would say that every pain was taken to make this a very good beginner/intermediate instrument with great sound and playability, but without the bells and whistles that would drive the cost up. I've mapped out the keys chromatically on the right side of the instrument; and there is a run of 20 chromatic notes, starting at B. I haven't completely mapped out the left hand chromatically; but it seems to be missing at least one note. I can tell that the instrument will be easier to play in some keys than others. But it is clearly suited for a wider range of music than cheaper 20-button models, making it a more practical instrument. I am practiced on guitar. So, there is a bit of a learning curve here. The notes on this concertina are all over the place. But I find it easy to produce both a lot of pretty and intentionally ugly sounds. Nothing sounds out of tune. Go for it!

Excellent construction means this instrument will last. The accordion reeds are not traditional for concertinas, but it does mean this instrument is within the budget of an intermediate student.
