Welcome to Your Awesome Robot is an Awesome Book.
We are 8 days into an at-home vacation and getting to the "Moooom, I'm boooooored..." part of things. Then this book was delivered which I'd forgotten I pre-ordered. Within 10 minutes of its arrival my kids (my son is 7.5, my daughter is 11.5) pulled all the cardboard boxes out of the recycling and disappeared into their "workshop" to start building robots. They were frustrated at first that we didn't have any boxes big enough for them to wear, but I suggested "mini-robots" for the meantime and they were satisfied with some that were cereal box-sized. Other than the occasional requests for more materials (packing tape, scissors, art supplies) I have not heard from them since, and it's been hours. They are fully engaged in creating, building, and problem-solving. They aren't even bickering. Best money I've spent all year.

DIY fun for kids!
This is really brilliant. it's got all one can need as far as both directions and add-ons for making an awesome robot costume for a kid.The kid in the cartoons is androgynous, so it's not like it's "all-boy"- I would certainly have bought this for my girl-kid when she was in early grade school or kindergarten.I bought this for the kid of a friend- he's 5 and his parents are doing their best to encourage a DIY approach in him. I thinik he will have a lot of fun with this- as will his parents.

Cute story
Not a bad book. Gave a cute back-line about building a robot from cardboard boxes. My 5-year-old daughter looked at it once, got the gist, and never looked back.

Great Family Fun Time
My 9 year old daughter and 6 year old son could not wait to start work on their own robots after reading this book! It was a great 'screen' free (ipad, computer, tv) family activity. The story is about a package coming in the mail in a big box. The box only has one small book in it with an instruction manual on how to build a robot. It includes a lot of great ideas to get the kids imagination going on what features they want on their own cardboard human powered robot.

Awesome indeed!
I helped my 6-year-old and a friend make their first robot yesterday, and it was truly awesome. The ideas and cartoon illustrations are great, and they both loved the way the book encouraged them over and over to come up with their own additions. (Fuzzy pipe cleaner antennae and telescope eyes made out of cardboard rolls for the win!) I'd recommend this for anyone with an energetic kid to entertain on a rainy afternoon.

Spent a whole day building a robot
I got this for my son on his seventh birthday--he read the book several times before he was ready to build the robot. The book is entertaining and cute and just at the right reading level. Then we worked for a day building the robot--he was engaged and excited and still (a month later) has the robot in his closet and puts it on occasionally.

Okay but I wouldn't buy it again
My grandson is fascinated by robots, so I bought this book on the recommendations here. But it was a disappointment. My grandson's imagination wasn't influenced by the book at all.

Good for Kindergarten +
This book is a bit long and not as good as I had hoped, but still a good find. Would recommend for kids older than 5 yrs.

Disappointed
The book wasn’t very good quality it was quite worn and if the description was better I wouldn’t mind but it was described as “good as new” which it wasn’t.

don't let it take over your home!
My son and I made a robot last night and it is likely to grow and gain siblings over the next week. The current one is a "Cheetahbot" and is serial number "1".I like the frequent reminders that you can make your own stickers/dials/ peripherals/ ... and my son jumped on the idea.We have been working on shoulder and forehead straps to keep the box, I mean, robot centered around my son and I would have liked more suggestions in this area.
