Herbalism in a new light...
Wow, Sajah Popham's book on Evolutionary Herbalism knocked my socks off, and it was so different from anything else I've read in this field. Before I get into substance, let me say a couple of things about the book's esthetics, which many readers will appreciate. The book is well over 500 pages, and yet -- unlike so many hefty books in its genre -- the pages of this book are made of excellent, heavy-stock paper, with very readable-size font! (How many of you, like me, have bought large books on herbs or essential oils, just to find the pages are translucent and the font too tiny to read?) You will LOVE holding this solid, well-bound book in your hands, which I've been doing for the past month, night after night, reading until the wee hours to learn every morsel of wisdom this author imparts in this masterful work. The book has excellent graphs and charts and lists, all presented clearly, to support the text. And what a pleasant surprise to discover what a great writer he is! Sajah Popham thinks and writes clearly, compellingly, and in a manner so straight-forward that you will find yourself wishing he would teach Academia -- and the US Government -- how to write and communicate! Regarding substance, it's important to clarify that this book is NOT an herbal "encyclopedia," or a quick reference guide for someone wanting to match their affliction with an herb. Rather, this book is a deep exploration of herbal medicine, through the lenses of international, historical, and archetypal patterns. He shows how most of what we think of as "illness" comes about as the result of imbalance. For herbalism to work effectively as medicine, the practitioner must understand the full nature of that imbalance -- not just the superficial symptoms we tend to focus on, like a cough, or fatigue. Sajah brings the full complement of history and science and archetypal tradition to bear, in helping us understand how to suss out the real imbalances at the heart of the affliction. And here, I need to clarify something important: many readers who, like me, come from a more scientific or academic background, might flip casually through this book and get scared off by seeing pages that refer to "astrology," which sends most of us science-types running screaming in a different direction! I would ask you to bear with him and let him show you how astrological symbols are valid historical "archetypes" for describing characteristics of physiology. (Someone's affliction might have "sun"-like qualities, or "Jupiter"-like qualities, which are historical ways of describing health issues.). I promise you that you won't find "pop" astrology in this book, telling you that, if you are an Aquarius, you should stay away from new relationships or large crowds this week! No, Sajah's use of astrology is historically valid and archetypal, and you will see that he weaves it masterfully into his paradigm for understanding health. I loved this book and plan to read it a second time. Highly recommended!

Accessible and Informative
I'm only halfway through this book at the time of writing this review, but it has really blown me away with the amount of information. Sajah is relatable and writes in a way that is easy to understand despite the complexity of the content. As a budding herbalist, I'm so glad I picked up this book! It was a recommendation from a friend and it does not disappoint! I also really love the connection with plants and astrology which I find most herbal books do not cover.

Full circle
This book was exactly what I had been looking for. I was trying to find a way to put astrology, herbalism tarot, and my spell work all into one. I have been guided to study herbalism for a long time, as it is the healing that we need in this world right now. I have always used herbs in my practice of divination and spell work and was curious about the medicinal side! Thank you sajah for this gem! The bonus book course..wow.. he has gone above and beyond for us!! 20.00 well spent!!this knowledge is priceless in my opinion! I can't wait for enrollment to be open for his school!! When I email them with inquiries they get right back to me!! I am so pleased! I would give this a million starts if I could

Best Herbal Book I Own
This book is a plethora of wisdom about herbalism and its specificity and detail about the art of herbalism is beyond compare! I have many herbalism books that I have used for decades, and being trained in Ayurveda, I can honestly say that this is one that actually teaches you how to use the right herbs for the conditions you are looking to correct, rather than just giving you lists of symptoms that they may be used to treat. In addition, Sajah offers insight into using astrology and alchemy to further your herbal knowledge. And as if that weren’t enough, when you purchase this incredible book, he offers you additional material that you can get from his website at no additional charge!I actually bought this title on my audible and loved it so much that I had to have the hard copy in my library, so I bought it too!

The knowledge I've been waiting for!
Sajah's book is easily the new favorite in my collection of herbal and esoteric teachings. His approach is to help convey the deep, hidden meanings of healing with nature's medicine, the best ways to go about it, and a full in-depth study of each component of the evolution of the philosophical and practical application for the healer. Although that may sound overwhelming, if you've followed any of his schools programs especially, you'll find he writes like he talks and is full of enthusiasm and inspiration from cover to cover. I've been waiting for this book and Sajah & Whitney Popham's teachings from the School of Evolutionary Herbalism for a long time! Their eclectic, practical, genuine approach to healing the whole body with the whole plant will inspire you to read more than just the book! It will move you to take action and stat (or further) your plant path!
