THE GOOD: These crates to me is that the main ...
We have two 55 pound Airedale Terriers who are clever escape artists along with their special talents for power-chewing anything softer than concrete. After a string of escapes from typical crates from local pet stores, we bought two of these crates.THE GOOD:These crates to me is that the main doors have two latches--which engage by simply shutting the door--so even if one does not quite catch, the other one does. The deep tray below the crate bottom grate is great for keeping the floor of the crate clean for our dogs, while catching anything that falls. An added bonus is that we noticed a dramatic reduction in dog hair in the room--because it was all collecting in the trays. By in large, the crates are solidly built and reliable.THE CONS:The grates on the bottom of the crates are not secured in any way, so they can be very noisy. We solved this via zip ties. The welds are inconsistent and while we have not had any joints fail as others have reported, we had the bolt at the bottom of one of the doors detach from the door and it allowed our dog to escape when the hinge bolt could then fall out. This is minor, but I want to note that it may take several tries to turn each panel "the right way" when assembling the crate--the instructions are image-only and not very clear.BUY AGAIN?Yes, definitely. I just need to figure out how to replace the de-welded bolt for one of the doors.

Good Cage / Poor Assembly Instructions
This is a well built cage. My dog chewed his way out of a flimsier cage and bent the bars. This one should keep him from doing that. However the directions on how to put this cage together are the worst instructions I have ever seen. I put the cage together then found out I had the right and left side swapped so I had to disassemble the whole thing and repeat about 20 minutes of work. The key to getting the right and left side correct is to make sure the holes on the top are towards the rear of the cage. Most instruction books show which bolts to use at what steps. These instructions don't. I ended up with five parts from the hardware bag left over. The cage is solid so I don't know where to put the remaining bolts. Anyway aside from the 20 minutes I wasted and the left over parts there is nothing wrong and it is heavy duty. Wheels work well. My only complaint is the front gate hinge requires you to close it and then put a S hook through a hole to make sure the dog doesn't get out. I think they could have designed a simpler latch that was still heavy duty.

We both this crate after our 45 pound golden lab/cattle dog mix literally ripped apart his first metal crate and chewed up the trim around our front door. I wanted something where he couldn't get his nose through the bars enough the pry the bars with his teeth and this has done the trick! We've had it for about a month and you can see a couple bent bars that he got his front teeth around, and he managed to dent one of the large frame bars, but ultimately he hasn't been able to get out of it!I think he has finally accepted that he can't get out of it and he actually goes in there when we are home at night just to rest!Thank you My1st Pet! You have relieved the anxiety of worrying that our puppy will hurt himself or our house when we are away for a few hours!

We have a 65 lbs. border collie/lab and she is SMART. The old cage I used for my 98 lbs American bulldog was working fine for the lab/collie, until we bought a new house and had to move. The move made her have the worst separation anxiety I have ever seen.In a matter of hours, once she decided she wanted to, she literally destroyed that wire cage that I bought from Petsmart 10 years ago. My American bulldog never even tried to challenge it, he would just go in there and she want to bone or something, her intent issue she has to go when it is escape. She pride open a got about 4 inches wide by 10 inches and was a able to squeeze her entire 65 pound body out in free herself from the cage.

After reading the high reviews I was excited once I ordered and received. I received in a timely manner. I have 2 dogs (a Jack Russel beagle mix and a dachshund). Upon arriving home one night I found the dogs loose and not in the kennel as I had left them; they had gotten out of the kennel and busted several wires in the side of the kennel. The secondary chain with S hook was laying in the floor after my little Houdini's had escaped. I would not consider this "heavy duty." As the wires are busted I am afraid to put them back in the kennel for fear they can catch their head and injury themselves.

Works for us
Bought this for our lab/pit mix. Good construction. Our dog was able to chew through a couple of the grid bars (she's a major chewer), but she ultimately stopped chewing it and now seems quite content with it.We liked this one so much we bought another one for our other lab/pit.

Great cage. I added some plywood over the grate bottom and put the tray on that. I feltin was better/stronger that way for my large heavy dog. Thus the 4 stars and not 5.

The Chinese welders don' clean their burrs off so good and I cut my finger on one
Be careful while handling the metal pieces bare handed. The Chinese welders don' clean their burrs off so good and I cut my finger on one. Does a good job of keeping my dog from busting out; heavy duty like a jail cell.
