Very useful visual anatomy reference
I have not read much of this book per se... the pictures are very useful. If/when I get around to reading it I may update my rating/review.As a visual anatomy reference it does a very good job; there is more information here than most artists are probably going to need, but then little if anything important is missing. There are clear examples of each major area of the body (torso, hips, limbs, head, hands, etc.) showing bone structure and musculature (both surface and deep muscles) from multiple angles, large and detailed enough diagrams to clearly show the structure, both male and female models where necessary or useful. There are diagrams and photos of nudes, but all are tasteful and shouldn't be offensive or objectionable to most (and honestly you're studying anatomy and figure...).

Really Complete
This book is by far the best detailed display of anatomy I have seen, both from an art and human physiology perspective. The explanations of drawing issues and technique are concise and clear. Buy it with confidence.

I am very pleased with this book
I am very pleased with this book, because on nice pictures and clear text. I might use it as dictionary to understand some more complex or difficult books about human anatomy in drawing and painting. I have also Bridgman's book on "drawing from life", with very unusual concepts of his own, and Gotfried Bammes's book "human gestalt" which is more clear.

Coplete Anatomy and figure drawing by John Raynes
I have been doing life drawing for several years and have frequently wished that I could get under the skin of my subjects to get a better understanding of the construction and mechanics of the human form. I borrowed a `Complete Anatomy and Figure Drawing' by John Raynes from my local library. I was delighted when I realised that it was just what I have been looking for. The first chapter describes the skeleton. Subsequent chapters deal with the muscles, the surface of the body in a variety of poses and how to draw people of different ages, body shape and gender. John Raynes's beautiful illustrations are clearly labelled with easy to read concise descriptions. I found this book so useful that I just had to buy my own copy to use for reference as I work.

very interesting book worth to be studied
Le livre est presqu'un peu trop d&taillé mais il semble nécessaire de savoir tout cela pour comprendre le corps humain et savoir le dessiner. Donc utile et clair.
