Impressed with the effectiveness of this little jar of ointment
Alright, I have sensitive skin that breaks out at the drop of a hat. Legit, if I touch my face at all, I break out in horrible acne. I've had acne since I was 13 or so and the only time it went away was when I tanned during high school (yes, tanning is bad for your skin - don't do it). I've tried everything under the sun to treat it, and it hasn't gone away. This ointment is not a cure for acne - however, it will treat acne extremely well. Seriously, it neutralizes it. I have moderate, bordering severe acne at times, but mostly I'd describe it as "persistent" and I haven't used anything as potent against my breakouts as this stuff. Unfortunately for those who are dry skinned such as myself, this treatment is a bit drying. Polyethylene Glycol, the only other ingredient, acts a bit as an occlusive... however, the sulfur will make your skin peel. The good news is, the peeling isn't like peeling/cracking. It's more like skin sloughs off gently. If you can find a good moisturizer to combat the dryness of this treatment, it should work out well for you. I can't, since I pretty much break out from every product under the sun. Now, Sulfur is definitely a "YMMV" type of treatment. The packaging recommends a 10 minute mask every morning and night, but I found it to add a lot of time to my routine. I went ahead and put a mask on for the full night (very messy, use something to cover your pillow) and that nearly wiped everything out. It also made my face peel like crazy, but it wasn't irritated or anything. This stuff smells very strong, especially the first few uses, but I either got used to it or it deteriorates over time. I'm planning on buying a silicone face mask to put on for sleeping when I want to do a treatment, to both keep the moisture in and to avoid the mess that comes with the territory of ointments.

This Really Works!
I purchased this product less than one week ago for my 12 1/2 year old son who has been experiencing hormonal acne for about the past 4 months. This is one item in a long line of products I have researched, purchased, tried, rejected, returned, or triumphed in this fight against pre teen acne. He has been using it for only five days, but the results are such that I must write a review to share our joy so that others can purchase and hopefully lessen their struggle. This product has take red, angry, cystic acne on his forehead to barely noticeable raised, skin colored bumps. I am confident with more time this will completely clear his acne.Since it has been a journey to reach this achievement, I would like to share all I have learned in my research to clearing acne:I have read more about acne in the last few months than I ever thought I would. I have learned that the three main "medications" in clearing acne are benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and sulfur. While the former two are easy to find everywhere in acne medications, the latter can be quite difficult, found only in expensive brands such as Rodan and Fields or by prescription. This product has a higher concentration of sulfur than R & F for a fraction of the price! If you are having difficulty clearing your acne with the tried and true over the counter medications ~ try this product. I have read that not all medications work for all people. It is true, in the beginning a couple of years ago, why my son started to have occasional breakouts Burt"s Bees blemish stick worked (primary ingredient tea tree oil), then we had to work up to benzoyl peroxide and Clearasil (5% BP), This worked for awhile. Finally, we used Benzac line of products with Salicylic Acid. Now, we have worked up to sulfur for that stubborn cystic acne.I will say at this point we are using a combination of ingredients. I am sharing so that you can benefit from my research because it is not always just the ingredient that is important, but the concentration. I have found what I believe to be each product with the highest concentration of its medication and they are all available on Amazon.Facial Wash: Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Acne Treatment Face Scrub 2% Salicylic Acid (use once a day, can be drying, especially in combination with other medications.)Lotion: CeraVe Moisturizing Facial Lotion (It is important to apply after washing and before acne creams to prevent over drying)Acne Medication for non cystic areas: Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Vanishing Acne Treatment Cream 10% Benzoyl Peroxide (because some areas of your face may not need the sulfur and will still respond to this. 10% is the highest concentration I have found.)Acne Medication for non cystic areas: Benzac Intensive Spot Treatment 2% Salicylic Acid (highest concentration I have found, you could layer the BP and this to work in combination)Lastly, this Sulfur Ointment for all those completely stubborn areas that Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic Acid will not address. This product is so amazing I don't want to risk it not working anymore so I will continue to use it only in the most stubborn areas. You only need a little bit, and it works! This product will last a long time.
