From the Author FROM THE AUTHOR:"The idea for the book came from working with a few communities experiencing difficult economic and social challenges. I knew it was not necessary to hire a long-term grant writer (me-for a good consultant’s sum) when there were people who, with guidance from a well-organized book, could do it themselves and gain from the success on a number of levels. I saw a need and wanted to provide clear, practical, step-by-step information that dispelled the 'higher mystery' myths about grant organization and writing. "Individuals can also use the book and Griffiths worked on a number of applications with artists and writers. This book has the potential to become a go-to for its unique personality. It's built upon premises that don’t become obsolete or change with government funding and that appeal to a wide audience. Optimism, sincerity, good budgeting, and organization (and saying thank you) all lead to more funding potential! Clarity is a Rarity
This book has the ease and direction of a very purposeful one-on-one discussion. On the importance of clarity: "I felt it necessary to approach the funder as though I was describing a higher mystery that was most deserving of support from funders. I suspect that it was difficult for funders to get through my obtuse and lofty prose to cut to the chase."She says, "I realized that funders were probably just as bored with figuring out the nuances between goals and objectives as I was. It was a relief to find that they shared my love of the subjects, stories, research, and people."With experience, she honed the process into a concise logical process which is both understandable and attractive to funding sources.Interestingly, I think the reader can apply her paradigms to a lot of processes in life!
