I currently own the HCS-40P but needed something portable as well for frequent use. Not much else to say other than the unit feels well built, the cord is long, and everything works fine. It's only been a week or so but no issues so far. Not a lot of bells and whistles with this unit, or frankly most Clipper Creek units, but in a portable unit I am not really sure what else you would need. Perhaps some delay ability but most cars have that built in (which mine does) so I don't see it as a negative, especially for a portable unit.For the price ($515) when I purchased it I found it to be worth the $. While the HCS-40P can charge at a higher rate it's considerably more $ and also much larger in size. My EV can't charge at 5.8kW yet but given the relative small increase in price over the LCS-20P at 3.3kW I thought it was a worthwhile investment and hopefully it's still working in a few years when I plan to get a new EV that can charge at a higher rate.

Bought it for my 15-month-old Nissan Leaf, although that is an only 24A charge, t charge my car with 17% in one hour, which is exactly as the state on their page (the huge table they posted) so it was faster 4-5 times more than my OEM L1 charger."Installation" is a funny word to describe it, because it practically PlugNplay.As we are renting, and have no plan to mount nothing to the wall.Work perfectly fine with my Dryer socket thought on buying a splitter, but its costly and kind of risky as we are talking here on very high throughput.Just threw it on the floor for super faster charging, and roll it when done. its like having your own gas station in the closet for case need it :

This item almost burned my house down. AVOID!!! The plug always got very hot. I asked my ex husband and he said well it’s a lot of juice. I plug my dryer into the same outlet and the dryer plug never gets hot. Last night it tripped the breaker and was melted into the plug. Now I have to have the wall plug replaced and I’m out $500 for this thing I have only had 4 months!!

I liked that the level 2 EV charger was easy to install in my garage. I sawed a channel under the wood framing to accomodate the charging cable so that the car could be charged when it was outside the garage with the garage door closed. The charging plug is of a much higher quality than the plug that was on my original charger which failed after 4 years of use.

It charges our Soul EV great, feels very sturdy, and fit the receptacle we had available. What's not to like? The only negative my wife mentioned is the plug isn't as nice looking as the stock 120v charger the car came with and it does look rather plain with just a matte black plastic exterior, but it fit our needs, budget, and it works well so I can live with the fact that the plug doesn't look "futuristic".

Solid build, excellent materials, works as expected.

Easy to install and is performing as advertised. Cut my charging time (from 120v dealer supplied charger) by two-thirds. I would recommend to all.
